While I like the styling, handling, and all the creature comforts of this vehicle they did have some problems with instrument clusters (and I have). I converted this unit to four wheel disk breaking for towing. Still own this rig and have no intention of selling.Nov 11, 2014

Would be a great car for hunting, hauling, or driving around town. Very reliable and looks great. Seats are comfortable and durable. Gas mileage is not great, but car accelerates and handles very well. Very fun to drive. Overall a great car.Oct 13, 2014

The fuel economy is the main downfall of my 99 two door tahoe. It has plenty of power and sounds great with flowmaster three chamber exhaust. The four wheel drive system is pretty nice but hubs kick out under a ton of load.Oct 24, 2013

I really like the overall look of this Tahoe,the comfort,the extra space,and what's not to love about 4x4.The only thing I don't really like is not being able to haul something the way you can in a truck.Overall,this is a very nice ride though.May 08, 2013

216,000 miles and she's still going strong. 4x4 and clean as a whistle.
Great truck! Should last at least another 216k. Can tow a house and get

I think I like the Tahoe for its versatility. From hauling things, to pulling other cars out of being stuck to just traveling it is one of the most comfortable vehicles I have ever owned.
The ONLY downside to is that I have seen is the MPG but I drive less than 7k per year so I fuel up very little.Feb 08, 2013

This SUV should have been fitted with the 5.3 or 4.8 liter which came out in 1999 during that year which would have given it great pickup from a dead stop but GM decided to scrap this vehicle after that year model which I still feel is a great mistake on their part. The SUV is easy to park and will tow anything that I need with comfort and no disrespect to the 5.7 liter because it is a great engine but it just doesn't have the instant response of the newer motors. My future plans is to lay down a 5.7 liter from a corvette in to this one and I might just start enjoying the commute to work more than ever.Aug 04, 2011

shape. Only downer of having a truck is he loves sucking down gasoline. Does

This was my first car and it is very reliable. Its not up there with the fuel efficient cars but it does get the job done. I haven't had anything crap out on me yet so I'd say its a must for people that like to cruise around. May 01, 2011

I am the original owner of this 1999 Tahoe. This vehicle has been garage kept and is very clean inside and out. I have maintenance/repair records. The following work was done in December: new spark plugs, wires, rotor and distributor cap, replaced fuel injectors, replaced all gaskets, including lower intake gasket. Replaced alternator and changed oil & filter last week. Interstate battery and tires are 1 year old. Vehicle has cold AC. Registration and inspection are up to date. 175,000 miles. Runs and drives great,no machanical problems. Mileage is 14 city and 18 highway.

i like the fact its the short and nimble and has plenty of power. the build quality isn't as good as the earlier k10's but it is still good, the appearance is decent but the best in my opinion the cost isn't that bad it gets about 17 or 18 on the highway and about 13 14 in town. this is fun but can be scary to drive where its short.

minor repairs. the obvious set back is the gas consumption but

Even though rough on gas mileage a 99 with only 70,000 miles pickep up for $5700 books over $7100 had to put some regular maint in it but nothing major great family vehicle. It rocks and we love it. We can tow anything and have plenty of room for our daughter and all our stuff. Really sharp truck has had lots of exterior work done to it. Mar 03, 2010

what I like about my truck is that it's a first gen Tahoe so it's the '90s body style which I love. it averages roughly 11.5 miles per gallon but it absolute fun to drive because it has a six inch lift with 33 inch tall BFG All Terrains.Nov 04, 2009

I bought it from the State Police at auction, lowered it 3in in the front and 2in in the back, and put in a limited slip. LT1 pulls strong, its fast, and gets decent mileage. Its ugly, but awesome to drive.Jul 16, 2009

In a world where gas prices are ridiculous - this thing is expensive. I love it though - I put a lift and 35 inch tires on it and beat the crap out of it - I've been everywhere with this thing including 4 trips from Idaho to Michigan and back - I also towed a Semi-Truck with it - it was awesome - Love the power and the ride is very nice - I did however blow the transmission and rear differential but alas it was a good time doing it. I've decided my motto should be "go until it sounds expensive, then go a little more" as that's pretty much what I did. Other than that....I love itMar 17, 2009

i bought this with some of my money i made overseas and i love it to death it is paid off and it rocks. i am happy i got it now because this things rocks offroad and it is awesome to drive. i added some stuff to it to make it mine and alittle better but all and all it is perfect for me

I like that its heavy so if anyone hits me im fine lol, um big trunk space for 2 15" kicker L7's, and its a tank its never broken down with 198k on motor, its amazing to drive to. i love the car, i had it since well couple days before this review, its a little more getting used to then my moms mountianier(mercury), but its a better truck. it drives amazingly smooth, its suspension is a little bumpy with the car but thats for heavy loads, its just an awesome truck im driveing it till it diesJul 28, 2008

Chevrolet products will last forever. I had a Silverado before this and now I have this Tahoe and it's wonderful. I'm soon taking off the rims and putting big tires and stock size wheels back on. I'm also adding dual exhaust. After that this Tahoe will be perfect.May 07, 2008

I bought it with most of the custom work done, such as the Eagle Alloy Rims and the Chrome Door handles, and dual Flowmaster mufflers the only thing ive done so far is add a chrome strips to the bug and rain guards, and a chrome strip on the bars in the grille, its looks good, but i have planes for a Brush guard,and a mild lift kit, but dreaming of these things and making these things happen r 2 totally differnt things.May 07, 2008

I've used mine as a truck. It is a truck. It may not be as loaded with electronic junk as the new ones but then, everything still functions after 145,000 miles and 9 years.

1999 Chevy Tahoe 4wd knocking and losing oil pressure?
So i have a 1999 chevy tahoe 4wd and it was working perfectly fine for the past 6 months. But one day i was pulling out of a mcdonald’s and i realized i lost power and oil pressure so i pulled back in and it had a knock as well. i was like 5 min from my house so i decided it would be easier to go home, i put it into reverse and it turns off? so i gave it gas and it stayed in gear and didn’t stall. got home but now i’m stuck thinking what the hell is wrong with it, i’m no mechanic so this is gonna be a hell of a project (:

I recently had some issues with my tahoe running hot and found out it was the water pump but i continued to drive it adding water before leaving each time. Finally got it fixed and now my motor knocks while sitting but more so when accelerating. Any ideas what's going on?
