1999 Buick Park Avenue FWDReview

Happy With The Car.... — This car is rather luxurious for its time. It handles VERY well in ice and snow. Not the best car for drag racing (of course!!!) but very comfortable for long trips. Although it can seat six, it is most comfortable for 4 as the center back seat has a hump and can be rather uncomfortable. All the conveniences really pampers the driver. Auto-dual zone climate control, auto dimming mirrors (drivers side and rear-view), moisture sensing wipers, auto-lights (of course, all cars have it now), Driver Information Center is excellent source of information. Did not have navigation at that time. I drove the Lucerne as a comparison and the Park Avenue really feels much better, in my opinion. Hope Buick brings a version of it back. Primary Use: Commuting to work Pros: Nice full size car that handles very well. Has the Touring package. Power everything, auto everything. Makes one very pampered. The heated front seats are very nice in winter. Cons: Comes with a V-6. Would have been nice if there was a V-8 option. Really a 4-passenger car rather than a 6. |

Awesome!! — Loved this car in every way....looks, comfort, reliability & handled great. Had lots of power! Tons of room in the trunk. Sure wish Buick would bring the 3800 engine back as I got 28-30 mpg on the highway with this car! Got about 20-24 in city. The engine in my 2009 Lucerne is not as powerful or gas efficient!! Primary Use: Commuting to work Pros: Loved the look of this classy car...was comfy for my long trips & reliable as well. Gas mileage was awesome...have great gas mileage for size of car. Minimal repairs but has been well maintained. Cons: Really can't think of any except it's a larger car but so very easy to handle! |

Awesome — Wish Buick would have kept the 3800 engine! My nephew's a mechanic, says if you maintain Buicks you will get 350K miles on them....well...I've almost proved it! I had back problems & surgerys & this is why I purchased the car for comfort & smooth ride & handling. Primary Use: Commuting to work Pros: Driven this Buick Park Ave Ultra for 13 years it has been a great car both in comfort and mechanical wise. This is a safe car & great gas mileage. Took trip from NY to SD & got 28-30 mpg! Was unreal! Handles very easily, smooth ride & quiet. Had lots of power & classy look!! Cons: Can't think of any except it's a larger car so if you're use to a small car will adjust to parking.... |

Great Car — I purchased my 1999 Park Avenue used in 2003, and The car is just enjoyable to drive as it was when it was purchased. At 11 yrs old and 147,000 miles it has held up very well, only needing minor transmission repair at 130,000 miles. The series II 3800 engine is plenty powerful and has no problem maintaining 85 mph with a full load. Gas mileage is also great, about 25 mpg in town, over 30 on highway trips. The only thing I dont like are the chrome rims, two of the rims were very leaky and were replaced with a pair of Oldsmobile aluminum rims. When it comes time for a replacement I will definetley try to find a newer low mileage Park Avenue Primary Use: Commuting to work Pros: performance, gas mileage, reliability, Cons: leaky factory chrome rims |

Park Avenue Ultra — Gorgeous car. Understated, conservative good looks, with just enough chorme. Solid performance for its size with the supercharger, it will hit 0-60 in 7.5 seconds. leather and butt warmers and a sunroof in a spacious package with a smooth ride. real and faux wood set off a nicely designed interior. torque keeps the power on hand at any speed. 240hp and 280 ft/lbs of torque. over 10 years old and 122,xxx miles on it and still runs smoothly and starts eagerly. Oldschool American big car. A classic. Pros: The entire car Cons: nothing |

Good Highway Car. Very Comfortable. — I don't have much to say about the vehicle; except comfort at its best! Buick did very good on this Luxury car. I used to get about 16mpg city and 38mpg highway. This car had much better highway mpg than my Altima!! This is a very spacious car. I recommend to anyone who is looking far a large affordable (Not so affordable when brand-new) luxury sedan. Primary Use: Family transportation
Pros:
- Very comfortable, spacious, and affordable "up-keep". Cons: - City fuel economy |

I Really Enjoyed This Car But I Really Want A Lincoln Town Car — My Park Avenue has been a fun car to drive. It floats down the road and has a very comforatble ride. I like the spaciousness of the interior and always joke that it's like driving you living room sofa to work. I've tested a few new cars and most seem cramped to me. Primary Use: Family transportation Pros: Dependable vehicle with all service receipts available Cons: Rear bumper needs refinished and there is some side surface rust at bottom of door. Only locks with key as remote needs repaired |
