Love This Car For An Older Car. — The appearance with the rear spoiler in black is very good looking. The spoiler needs to be re-mounted from people using as a trunk lift handle, can't go through the car wash for this reason. Have to use black colored wax and polish to cover the nicks and scratches, but it's 16 yrs old, not unreasonable .

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Looks an the power it still has at 228000 miles

Cons: Lower control arms and shocks are necessary at about 175000 miles.

Its A Good Car To Drive Into The Side Of Your House :d — Well over all the Maxima is a VERY good car, but I came across two problems, one was easy to fix...the First was the trunk button stopped working so we had to use the key all the time...this was fixed by flipping a switch inside the trunk. Apparently after a while of slamming the trunk shut, the switch slowly shimmy's down to the "Key only" position. The second problem is a common error with the Maxima (I don't know if it's just the year I have or not) but the Speedometer stopped working...if stays at 0 until I hit 35, THEN it pops back up to say hello :D. Its a good driving around town car though for sure : )

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Can't go wrong with the space you have to Jam stuff ^^

Cons: If you don't have the money to supply her with Premium gas....don't buy her (they can run on regular but with a notable differance in up hill driving)

I Picked It Up Cheep, One Of The Best Buys I've Ever Made — Great car. Got power, handling and comfort. Great for cruising or racing. Sips on gas when cruising, has balls when you hit the gas. Cheep to insure and all around great! Nissan did right with the Maxima. Powerful sports car engine, with refined comfort of a sedan

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Reliable, comfortable, sporty

Cons: Prone to rust

'98 Maxima — Overall, the Maxima is a great car. It's reliable (in as much as an eleven year old can be), a lot of fun to drive, and is very comfortable. It's getting old, but it still has plenty of life left in it.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Performance, reliability

Cons: Sub-par gas mileage

My Nissan Maxima Gle — Very fun to drive, pretty good gas mileage, LOVE the interior (leather), solid build, FANTASTIC acceleration and handling. Has a V6 3000 twin cam engine, 24 valve. Lots of trunk and back seat space. Oh, and her name is Jenny :P

Pros: Acceleration, handling, interior

Cons: none

260k And Still Ran Great.... — this car held up great had it for 5 years. did have to replace the transmission once around 180k and again around 240k but i'm hard on transmissions. this car was fun to drive and had great gas mileage one tank would get me from NC to MD with gas to spare. had a major accident in this car and came out with no scratches..

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Its  a maxima enough said

Cons: if you have a chance to own one no reason to aviod

The Black Bull — This thing's a tank and it moves when you want it to. Decent gas mileage, quiet, doesn't look ancient 12 years after being built. It is a fun car to drive. Not quite as well thought-out as a Honda but it holds up about as well. The brakes are a constant problem but they can be ignored to an extent while still working alright since the front brakes work alright. The car doesn't rust as easily as most Hondas do. Parts are expensive but last a long time for the most part.

Pros: quick, decent gas mileage (24-30mpg), no timing belt to worry about, good looks (imo), lasts forever, holds 5 people, decent suspension, decent paint (still no rust and i haven't waxed it in over 2 years), base model (gxe) still has the most important power features, manual transmission works well once you get used to it and has good gearing (low and close until last two gears), auto transmission geared for better highway mileage (from what I hear)

Cons: rear brakes are terrible (e.g., rear calipers seize up, even after being replaced - have to leave manual car in gear since ebrake doesn't work right), rear seats don't fold, ignition coils and some sensors died prematurely, substantial subframe rust (but NO body rust) , ergonomics not as good as that of hondas - nissans seems to resemble an american car more than most other japanese makes, have to watch the transmissions (both auto and manual trans are prone to failure if not maintained)

98 Maxima — This car has everything you need. Room for 5 adults. Fast. 0- 60 7.1, 100mph in 3rd gear. Good MPG's to. I about 25mpg. That is very good for a V-6 that 10 years old. I had this car 5 year and hoping to get another 5 years. They stop making this body 1999, and I see these cars everywhere so I think I'am in good hands.

Pros: V-6 5speed mpg build quality

Cons: 115 mph limted
