I really dont like the handling on the van. Maybe because its an older model. I love the fact that it has alot of leg room. And so much room for cargo.In a way it is a fun car to drive. Not good mileage but fun. Mar 02, 2011

This vehicle is very roomy and hauls up to 7 people or anything else. Maintenance has been low. Performs well in any type of weather condition. Good looking inside and out, hold up to the element (weather and children) Comfortable ride with plenty of storage room in the back Nov 22, 2010

Bought this vehicle used, and was pleasantly suprised with the peppiness and acceleration. It has 240K miles on it and I wouldn't be suprised if it goes another couple hundred thousand.The interior controls could have been laid out a bit better, but all in all I have beem happy with this vehicle.Nov 28, 2009

This mini-van has held up pretty well despite bad quality reviews. Mine is 11 years old and has 99000 miles on it. Knock on wood I have never done motor or tranny work on it. The rear wiper just stopped working and the motor for it was replaced at 65000. getting rusty around the rocker panels and front wheel bearings are shot like most front-wheel drive domestics I have experienced. A little bit of care can go a long way. I feel this mini-van has a bit more torqey feel than others with v-6's in it's class. If I was getting a new mini-van, I would drive the Ford first.Feb 06, 2009

The sport family truckster! What can I say, it's a mini-van but it's a sweet mini-van. The 3.8 V-6 provides more than enough get up and go while delivering decent mileage. With over 170,000 miles on the clock we still get 26 mpg hwy with six full size adults! Other than a few wear items it has been relatively trouble free.Jan 09, 2009

I had this van for about 8 months before I scraped it, it was very roomy for seven people, and had power, easy to merge on highways and accelerate (I had the 3.8 L engine). Major problem was rust, but thats common on Ontario's cars. Maintenance was a pain, doing something simple like new spark plugs were a real pain, 3 spark plugs in the rear were under the windshield, and could only be accessed from underneath. Rear windshield wiper motor broke, rust in door frames, hatch, quarterpanels, anywhere you look, there is rust to be found, either big or little. Overall, a good minivan for a used vehicle.
Mine broke down 3 weeks ago due to a torque converter and transmission failure, common on these Wndstars of this year, I scraped mine.Jun 15, 2008

I have had this van for about 3 1/2 months and so far it has been very reliable. I wish I could have gotten something a little more sporty and not so soccer mom, LOL. It is large enough for 5 kids from carseats to teenagers. Jun 07, 2008

This is a very good car. The best than I have ever had. Very confortable to drive, very powerful, fast, reliable, it drives you where you want to go. Not need big maintenance or big repair if driving correctly. But it uses a lot of fuel. Jan 07, 2008

hello, zac here. my parents have a 1998 ford windstar and im wondering what some problems with it could be. i was told they were driving down the road yesterday and something happen idk what but something happen and then theres oil squirting in the back of the engine and white smoke coming from the engine. i went to take a look at it yesterday and the whole back side of the engine wall is covered in oil and on the valve cover gasket was a hole and that was the first place i saw smoke, found the plug and plugged it in, problem one solved. but then started driving it for 20 minutes after letting it warm up, it was smoking heavy from the tail pipe loss power then popped the hood and now the white smoke if coming from the left side by the alternator, in this location but underneath by the belts and what not. im going to look at it today to see if i can jack it up and look underneath to see what going on. any ideas,

Door chime
Can the door chime be turned off..maybe pull the fuse even...it goes off nonstop whenever the keys are in it or even if just the drivers door is open and the keys are not in it. .I was trying to clean the carpet on drivers side with door open and it is going non stop..there is no little button in the door jam, or I would have just taped it in.. Im not sure that (if I find the right fuse )if it will be ok to pull it. I t seems to b the only way to shut the thing off..
