Very Good Family Wagon And Traveler Vehicle. — Great car for the family of 4 or more. Rides well. Handles ponderously and top heavy. Inside is very comfortable. Motor is strong in the 3.3 V6 and trouble free even after 100k miles. Easy to park. Good crash protection for driver and passengers. Aside from regular maintenance and some electrical issues, it was cheap to own and maintain.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: very comfortable family vacation traveler and commuter car. No major  costly repairs. Safe crash protection. Plenty of room for 7 adults and luggage. Power is pretty strong from the 3.3 v6. Even after 127,000 miles.

Cons: electrical issues now and then. Handling is not great. Brakes are mediocre. Engine valve covers seemed to seep oil from day one. Hard to do regular maintenance and minor repairs in cramped engine compartment.

Immortal Minivan! — This is my aunt and uncle's family vehicle, a 1997 Plmouth Voyager short wheelbase with the Rallye trim package. It has power windows and locks, cruise control, A/C, AM/FM stereo with cassette player, CD player, and Infinity sound system. It has more than 130,000 miles, but aside from the usual problems that come with age, it is very very reliable. The V6 engine makes about 170-180 horsepower, and provides adequate acceleratation. The handling is okay, as is the ride. The only reason I give the appearance a low rating is because the van has been beaten to hell, and back, several times. My Aunt backed it into my Grandma's Buick in 2000, and has managed to damage both side-view mirrors backing out of the garage. The fit and finish of the interior is nothing special, but the van itself is as solid as a rock. It was a very beautiful vehicle when it was a brand new, don't get me wrong. Of all the cars anyone in our family owned at the time, it was the most popular.

Pros: Rock solid, very well equipped, kickass stereo system, able to haul anyone or anything (everything from fully grown Labradors to refrigerators!)

Cons: It needs a makeover. That's really about it. If it weren't so beat up it wouldn't have any problems.

Purple People Pusher Proves Pleasantly Poised And Purposful — I actually miss this anonymous mommy-mobile. Yeah, I looked and felt like a dork driving it, but it was very handy whether hauling people or cargo, and it drove pretty good too. Got decent mileage to boot. About the only complaint I had was the transmission was soft to engage into reverse when cold, and occasionally slurred shifts between second to third gears, the transmission being a commonly problematic area for the 3.0 liter Mitsubishi V6 and 3 speed auto combination in whatever it's installed in.

Pros: Handled good (for a minivan)
Decent power (for a minivan)
Originator of the dual sliding rear doors, which made it convenient
Kinda handsome (for a minivan)
Comfortable and well-appointed interior

Cons: Problematic transmission
