Can I remove/replace the water inlet pipe without removing the water pump on a 3.0?

2000 plymouth voyager/3.0 Have a small coolant leak coming from near the thermostat. Changed the thermostat, it's not that. From what I've read, it's possibly either the o-ring where the inlet pipe connects to the water pump, or the inlet pipe itself has become breached. The repair manual I have does not cover replacement of the inlet pipe anywhere, but apparently they ARE replaceable. The book does cover water pump/timing belt replacement though. My question is, what do I need to pull to replace that water inlet pipe?

Can I use 5w20 synthetic oil?

My voyager 3.0 has noisy lifters for 4 minutes when its cold. It has a new oil pump and gets 5w30 synthetic every 3000 miles. Would switching to 5w20 solve this issue?

Car won't start

won't start. Replaced battery. And alternator?

I have a 2000 3 liter Voyager base, with a 4 speed overdrive trans. THere is no CEL, but it is stuck in 2nd gear. There is no RPM limiter, you can exceed 3000 or 4000 RPM. It just won't shift. Park, reverse, neutral are all fine, it does not go into 1st but is stuck in 2nd. Manual shifting does not help. Again, no CEL, and my code reader gives no stored codes. Any ideas?
