Not Too Bad — I just wish that it was in better condition than when I had gotten it. It was great as a first car, but nothing more really. Not a fault of the car itself, but of the previous owner of the thing.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Great first car

Cons: Didn't last long

My Best Vehicle Yet — it;s the best sport utility vehicle i've ever had, For the year and the mileage she's still running stronger than ever and besides normal wear and tear and maintenance, i barely put any money into her. I love it

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: perfect little suv

Cons: nothing really wrong

Excellent Vehicle — Nothing did I dislike about this vehicle. I have owned it since 1999. I have never had to do any major work on it. I always kept up with scheduled maintainence. It has been an excellent vehicle and I would drive it anywhere right now.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: This has been an excellent vehicle. I am self employed and use a van in my business so this car has been sitting mostly in the garage.

Cons: Gas milage 13 to 15 mpg

1997 Mercury Mountaineer V8 — Bought it used with 21K miles. Now has 162K miles and no major problems. Only fairly major problem was having to have the Heat/AC distribution box assembly replaced. Since it had 150K+ miles on it at the time, I also had the heater core replaced at the same time. Total cost $1K.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Reliability

Cons: Nothing major

Definitely Worth The Deal — Looks pretty good, handles really well, engine has a good bit of power and is a reliable engine (198000 miles on mine), I've had to replace the front transmission seal and replaced the torque converter at the same time, fuel pump wasn't too bad of a change, all in all this vehicle has been pretty easy to get back to a decent SUV.

Pros: Runs great even after as many miles as I have in it - pulls like crazy when towing

Cons: Oil changes and Ford engineering...Ford has a tendency to occasionally put special bolts or drain plugs or oil filters...etc and so on, in the tightest corners or in places you can't get to without a special tool...not cool in my book.

Everyone Ought To Own One Once — I Love this truck. Yes, I call it a truck. It acts like a truck and performs like one. Would never not own one! I cannot drive a car anymore, terrified of cars now. I sit just at the right height. Easy to get in and out of even with having back surgery. I cannot say enough of this vehicle. I will own one probably for the rest of my life.

Pros: Handling is awesome, great for kids, families, camping gear, rugby gear. Rugged. Dependable, comfortable. Fun to drive. Great height for all drive-thru's.

Cons: Fuel cost is a bit tough.
