TJ from this era are classic and have one of the most bullet proof engines. The values hold really well and are inexpensive to repair / do maintenance too. As the saying goes “its a Jeep thing” so to understand it you have to drive one.

Nice jeep but buyer beware. Unless you know what you are getting into have money set a side just for the jeep. The parts for the older jeeps are expensive. A lot of mechanics dont like working on them. You defintely want whomever work on your jeep, to like jeeps. Otherwise you are doomed.

Not An Everyday Driver — Good for the occasional trip and errands, Excellent offroad capabilities. Not good for every day commute to work. Not the easiest vehicle to get in and out of and the little bit of cargo space is difficult to access. Had to remove the back seat just so I could have a little bit of space.

Pros: Very maneuverable, easy to park and can go anywhere.

Cons: Rough on the highway, feel every little bump you hit.

Off Road Runner! — Love that it is a sturdy, fun, simple vehicle that anyone can drive even if they have never driven a standard. It is such an easy going ride and is very dependable in any situation. Oh and it has both a hard & soft top!!

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Runs well, very capible, fun to drive, easy to manuver.

Cons: Clear coat popping on hood & fender flares.

Fun — I like the look of a Jeep, the build quality is superb it is easy to work on and you can find parts for jeeps in quite a few different autoparts or junk yards. The Performance is great, the handling on the road is good.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: If you like to play in the mud or go trail riding this is the perfect vehicle, or even take the top off and cruise the beach on a nice sunny day.

Cons: With the lift it gets less fuel mileage.
