Floor Shifter in 1997 Chevy S10 extended cab
Any idea how many 1997 Chevy S10 extended cab trucks came with an automatic in the floor and a console? This is the first one I have ever seen.

Its a great model of the S10, best model year in my opinion since the S10s of the late 1980s! If you find this model with a good frame? The motor and transmission wont let you down, their strong running trucks!Nov 05, 2022

Work truck, daily driver. I have had to put some money into this truck but I love to drive it. I put a new clutch in and reservoir this summer. Past owner let it just keep leaking and it finally ate the dust. Newer electrical work, breaks and basics to get it running good. Nov 29, 2012

Miss this truck. It was a sad day when the motor blew out on it then an even sadder day when the 2nd motor gave out.
Pros- Small great for Trail Riding. Good cargo room

great and comfortable driving car. has almost no blind spots and goes where you want it with no problem. its not very fast at all and takes a bit to get up to speed but ince you get there it glides nice to save gas. once you hit any speed itll stay there with your foot off the gas(ofcourse if the road is flat). i really cant complain about it. its great for utility, not for passengers, but it works and its reliable. great mileage.Aug 31, 2010

Great little truck to fix up. Good gas mileage (if you drive it like a grannie)
i've spent more money on cosmetics than mechanical repairs since i have owned it(10 years)
The rear wheel drive is nice but wish it had a locked rear end

After 160,000 miles, it still runs like new. The 4.3 liter V6 has good acceleration, no leaks, no weird noises, transmission doesn't slip. The body is in great shape. Very little rust, minor dents. I've had it since 2005 and the only major repair was a new fuel pump and gas tank. I've added fog lights, a cd player, window vents and LED tail lights. I wish it had four wheel drive for the winter and a/c for the summer but other than that its a great little truck.May 19, 2010

A V-6 engine on a really light frame gave this truck some real get up and go. The cargo space was really light especially if it was raining since it wasn't an extended cab, so if you have one hopefully your passenger won't mind stuff on the lap.

this is an awsome truck i liked it when i had it but i sold it to my dad i picked the truck up for 500 bucks and i put more into a sound system then i did the truck and beleive the system was rediculious the truck shoulda fallen apart but it was deffinetly built very well Mar 25, 2010

It is a ok truck for just light jobs, it wont seat many, COMFORTABLY. It ran great cant get a better runnin truck, it not very pretty it dont look like a real truck. It isnt fun to drive. It had great gas milage though.Jan 15, 2010

I wish it had a larger, more aggressive, powerful engine. Right now it has a stock 2.2L four cylinder. If I ever win big in the lottery, or come in to a reasonably large sum of money, I'd like to put a small block Chevy V8 in that puppy. Another issue to be addressed is the rear fender and cab corner rust. That truck is still fun to drive, when I know no cops are looking, and rides fairly smooth for a lowered S-10.Dec 12, 2009

I am able to take this truck off roading and not have to worry about scratching it up. It is a bit bad on gas but worth it. The truck is fun to drive because it speeds up quick and sounds good due to the exhaust i put on it.Sep 21, 2009

My second vehicle. Got it my senior year of high school. Great truck, I loved it. One night it was parked in front of my friend's house and this kid crashed into the front of it, totaling it. its red has a 4.3 vortec v6 posi-trac rear end, 4 speed automatic runs and drives tops out at 97 i installed an aftermarket sound system with 3 12's 2 6x9's and 2 61/2's. Recently installed smoked euro style taillights. I get between 15 and 19 mpg. only had it stuck 3 times in 3 years. not bad for northeast missouri weather conditionsAug 05, 2009

good power with the 4.3 2.8 is worthless, handles well, accelleration is decent, built well. overall no complaints, I would love to get better gas milage, but its a truck. its alot of fun to drive if you know how to go off roading and have a place to goJun 11, 2009

The qualtiy was very good. I didnt have many problems with it. Overall performance was good not the greatest but it was fun to drive.It held up very well through an accident and still ran goood as new when i rebuilt it Jan 03, 2009

from point A to point B there really isnt much more to say bout it. it has a Vortec V6 and it will get up and go before you can think about it. however after 100,000 miles ever thing went down hill. but that is typical on all cars unless they have been garage stored since they were bought.Oct 25, 2008

This was a fun lil truck and took us far. I bought it for very little money $3K and got every penny's worth. It still does about 18 mpg which is great by today's standards.
It's not all that fun but it did the job and was great moving when I had to cart things. People are always trying to get me to sell it and I've never done anything to upkeep the body (paint is still good it just has a loose side part near the bumper but still looks good)Sep 29, 2008

The acceleration could use a little more work but it's OK. Braking is great, and the handling of the truck is really good. I have had to have some work done to it, new brakes, rotors, and mirrors.The exterior is really nice, I love the side step, it makes the truck look more slick. Performance- I have the 2.4 litter engine and it's alot of engine for that little truck.
Build Quality- Its a pretty sturdy truck and has seen a little abuse and has stood up to it.
Cost of ownership- Is okay on gas about 20 miles per gallon, and its at 160,000 so parts are starting to fail but nothing major.
Fun Factor- This car is fun to drive get good burnouts and is just really fun to drive, off the line really fast but govenor kicks in at 95 =/Jul 11, 2008

It's actually a SS model. Excellent handling. Good to run around town or take on curvy roads. Doesn't have many options available...no tilt, power doors or windows, etc. Fun truck to drive.Jun 28, 2008

I love my S10 and have so many ideas running through my head to further trick it out. It has a 4.3 Vortec Automatic engine and flow masters with a new exaust pipe. It has 15 inch BILLET SPECIALTIES Vortec rims with billet brake dust guards. The paint is OK but up close there are somu imperfections (planning to change that). I purcheased this little truck a little over a year ago, and I haven't had any major problems with it. I drove it from Grand Rapids, MI to Sevierville, TN and back, i averaged 30 MPG, and had a great ride. It can do a fair amount of hauling, even when overloaded. Acceleration is lacking due to its small 2.2 4 cylinder engine. It doesn't handel very well either, but it's a truck, so, that's ok.Apr 18, 2008

have 97 S10 when cold out runs fine. when air temp is above seventy five. and truck reaches running temp it will die. will restart after a few seconds and run just fine for a short time. then die again. has strong fuel smell when restarting. has new fuel pump and mass air flow sensor, have put new dis. cap, plug wires and plugs.
