What owners say
"Overall, owners of the 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier have mixed feelings. Many appreciate its reliability and fuel efficiency, making it a solid choice for students or budget-conscious drivers. Owners liked the sporty appearance and the fun driving experience, especially in good weather. However, they noted some downsides, such as slow acceleration, electrical issues, and the need for frequent repairs. Some mentioned it could be loud on the highway and that the interior feels basic."
It handles great in the snow! I can't wait for summer when I can take the top down and enjoy the convertibleness! I bought it used so it's not in perfect condition, but so far it's a fun little car.
December 22, 2010This was my first car and i love it. Performs good and can easily be modded to fit your needs. I havent came across a major problem with this car and the way it's running (strong), I won't anytime soon.
October 17, 2009Great on gas! I went on a trip to Illinois with my Cavalier and got 39 miles per gallon! This car is great for students or anyone looking for an older economical car. The only downside is if you want to change the oil yourself, the oil filter is very difficult to get to. The trick is that you have to take off the front passenger side wheel and remove the plastic pannel that is located in the wheel well and you're there. The first time was rough but you get used to it. Overall the Cavalier is great, I'm always hauling my friends around in it and will be for years to come. This from me to you -- Get a Cavy!

July 15, 20081997 Chevy Cavalier Z24, 2.4L engine, 5-speed manual, FWD, power window, power locks, remote lock, great interior.
February 24, 2008Overall a good car. Handled the snow very well. I've never been beat off the line with it. Never raced any all-wheel drive cars though! Lol. I had a blast the whole 5 or so years I had it. Sold it to my brother. Too many kids to sink money in for having fun.
March 1, 2011This car was fairly quick for a in line 4. Kept up with a normal V6 camaro. It rattled a little in the dash and somewhere in the back as well. Very fun car for what I paid for it.
April 12, 2010The Z24 package transforms the Cavalier coupe form a ho-hum econo coupe to a sporty ride. The handling is far improved and acceleration is good for the class. Overall quailty isn't up to some competitiors but is soild enough. Getting parts for this car is a snap, and they're inexpensive too. The coupe looks sporty enough and it one of the roomiest compacts on the road. Alot of people bad mouth these cars. But I've never had a problem with one. I would recomend getting one for cheap reliable transportation.
November 22, 2008Great Car, Decently stylish, Great Gas Mileage, You can find this car for decently cheap, but you get more than you pay for, its very reliable . My car has over 120,000 miles and it still runs great. Its a great car for a student. You can fit your friends in it and its not huge like a boat.
August 7, 2008I like the style of the car. All you see around are civics and I had to be different. Haven't had that much trouble with this car at all. The motor is strong and can give you the power when you need it. It's great on gas even after the modification I have done to it.
July 30, 2008This is the second cavalier I've owned, its a great buy. The Z24 trim model like mine has plenty of acceleration for in-town driving and more than enough to hit the highway comfortably. Its factory Macpherson struts glue it to the road and maintain excellent ride quality with its stock tires. Due to its low weight braking performance is stellar. Its relatively straight forward interior and exterior design makes the car also cheap to maintain while keeping some class in it. Forward aerodynamics are well designed and with the windows and sunroof open there is very little cabin turbulence. This little car begs to be tossed around the streets and reacts quickly and efficiently in both traffic and highway situations. Its definitely not the American the powerhouse that fuels motorhead dreams, however, there are very few cars that at stock performance can superglue themselves to the road at such a perfect near neutral handling characteristics for near its own price. And if your boys laugh about your little economy/sport coupe, fill your tank and let them know your getting 35-38 mpg on the highway and 28-32 in town.
