1997 Chevrolet Blazer 2-Door 4WDReview

It Will Get You Where You Need To Go — The Blazer is tough, but too heavy. It will definitely get you around, but things will go bad pretty consistently. That being said, it will keep running even when things go bad. I had two bad fuel injectors and I could still get around just fine. My suspension was completely shot, didn't seem to affect anything other than the alignment. I wouldn't get one again because of the fuel economy and clunkiness, but I did enjoy having it for a while. Primary Use: Commuting to work Pros: Will handle anything you throw at it (snow, mud, deer...), great for someone who likes to sit high off the ground, cheap parts, easy to DIY, decent power, headlights are relatively cheap to replace. Cons: Will slowly break down on you (but it will keep running!), terrible MPG, heavy, easy to rust out, suspension gives out easily, brakes wear fast, exhaust tends to get louder every day, interior looks "blah", only four seats |

I Miss It — this was my first off roading vehicle and i loved every bit of it... i wish i still had this truck... if i kept it i would have painted it a different color and lifted it a bit higher.... GREAT TRUCK Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) Pros: I loved everything about this truck Cons: the only thing that was bad about it was the gas mileage |

Fun Little Daily Driver. — I I have owed a 95, 96, and this 97. Each had problems, each left me sitting on the roadside, but is still a great looking truck. Alot of power. Love the sound of an aftermarket preformance exhaust from the 4.3L. Primary Use: Commuting to work Pros: I have owed a 95, 96, and this 97. Each had problems, each left me sitting on the roadside, but is still a great looking truck. Alot of power. Cons: I hate having to drop fuel tanks to replace feul pumps. |

It Was Probably A Wonderful Car When New But Know It Might Need A Lot Of Work In The Long Run. — This was my first car and I was super excited about the car. It had great drivability and felt like it had power. It wasn't until after a couple years owning it that it started having major problems. First thing was the ball joints and the idler arm that had to be replaced. That cost me about $1500. Then about a year later the fuel pump went out and had to have that replaced for another grand. Lets just say I got tired of getting stuck on the side of the road. Oh and the alternator has been replaced a good 2 or 3 times. One thing I did love about this car is it had plenty of room to move my stuff including some furniture. It sucks gas but is fun to drive. Even went off roading with it once. Primary Use: Commuting to work Pros: Great 4x4 for those occasional snow problems tons of interior space Cons: poor gas mileage and an assortment of problems around the 150,000 mile rane |

Old Reliable — This thing is the most reliable car I have ever owned. It has 209,000 miles on it and still running strong. It is gutless in the performance department but it gets me where I need to go. 4WD works good on the beach and snow. Not the best towing rig but it tows my 21' Checkmate w/ tandem axle trailer to the launch and back all summer long. Primary Use: Commuting to work Pros: 4WD works good, ok on gas, still reliable after 209,000 Cons: Gutless performance, small gas tank |

Good — Can go through hell and back for you. It's no speed demon. It's no formula grip car. But it's going to do what exactly you bought it for. It's relatively reliable and can be quite a bit of fun if you know how and where to use it. Primary Use: Commuting to work Pros: Utility Cons: MPG |

A True Sport/utility Vehicle — Hard on gas, but lots of power, plenty of room, and excellent off-road with the right tires. Parts cost is reasonable, although a little on the high side when you go through a dealer. Overall a great vehicle for commuting and/or recreation. Primary Use: Commuting to work Pros: Lots of power and available after market gear Cons: Hard on gas and some dealer-only parts are a little pricey. |
