Great Overall Daily Driver. — I love how easy it is to work on the motor. Ours is still fully intact all trim and accessories still on the car. The 1.8t would be a better option if you want some extra oomph when you press the go pedal. Its a great daily driver and hasn't failed us even when the oil pressure sensor failed and we drove 40 miles with barely any oil and no indication of oil pump failure due to a small hole in oil pan. I don't recommend that but the motor is a slow and steady reliable. Its no tuner or racer but it'll get you to and from work with a little love and attention to oil changes belt changes etc. Gas mileage suffers a bit due to the power band of the motor and the gear ratios in the transmission. The low output in lower rpms means the car is geared to put you at 3100-3400 rpm @ 60 mph in 4th (automatic) or 5th (manual) on the highway. Not the best in class for mpg but its not bad at around 22-25 city/hwy. I personally love our jetta and as a mechanic this car is worth maintaining to reach over 350k miles. Dont have to baby this one but no hot rodding the 2.slow if you want it to last a while.

    Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Price of parts if you know where to get them
    Easy to work on
    Reliable
    Wife loves it

Cons: Some electronics tend to fail
No transmission drain plug on automatic
Gear ratio causes high rpm at highway speeds.

Its A Fun Easy To Drive Car. — With the supercharger the acceleration is really nice and fun. it could use some brake upgrades, but over all handling is good. Build quality is good it does need some work but it is a 1995 so it'll have that.

    Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: It is a fun car to drive and the hole family can fit in it.

Cons: I hate that it does not have a glove box.

Black Jetta 5-speed — Acceleration and top speed are quite impressive for a 2.0L, even the bottom end is really torquy. Only normal wear repairs have been needed in her 121,000 miles. Styling is awesome just the trim falls off because it was double sided tape from the factory. She gets 25-30 mpg but parts are kinda expensive due to being German. By far most fun car i have ever owned.

    Pros: Great car for anyone

Cons: Only downsides are the trim needs to be better fastened and the parts are expensive.

Loved Every Second Behind The Wheel. — Really nothing that I disliked other than the fact that the maintenance costs started to get out of control once the car broke 130,000 miles. I guess that's to be expected though when cars get that old. Other than that, I adored that car, and was heartbroken when I got rid of it.

    Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Super fun to drive, handled extremely well, accelerating and braking were very smooth and felt natural. Seats were comfortable. Gas mileage was decent.

Cons: Electrical issues, and finally at 140,000 the alternator and fuel pump went bad simultaneously, so I replaced the car.

Vw For Life! — Loved this car till its death. By far the best Vw ever owed. Great handling at fast speeds acceleration was far for having almost 300,000 miles on it. Would recomend for someone looking to get in to cars easy to mod

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: Was an easy car to modify and great results from a little engine.

Cons: Not a very reliable car

Everyone Should Own One At Least Once In Life! — These cars are reliable, fast, fun, economical, and cute. They can be left stock for an economical sedan for a family or they can be added onto as a fun sporty car for a young driver. The only down side to these cars is that there are a lot of them out there so it makes them less valuable. Cost of ownership is the cheapest I've had and it is the funnest car to drive that I have owned.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

    Pros: reliable, cute, fun, economical.

    Cons: common

Hese Are Good Little Cars That Run And Handle Well, And Are Fairly Cheap To Run. — This is my second 95 Jetta and I've loved both. The performance is good for a 2.0L and the mileage has been great -- mid-30s mpg on the freeway. Handling is good, brakes are fine. One annoying thing: fifth gear on my manual tranny is geared way too low. At 70 mph I'm revving at 3,000 rpm and the engine buzzes. Oh, and another thing: the timing belts are prone to going bad before you hit 100K miles. My first one lost its belt and it cost me $2,200 to fix because it ended up damaging the top end. Build quality is pretty good, although my first had little interior parts falling off. Nothing terrible, just irritating. My second one is starting to rattle pretty good at 108K miles. No parts falling off, though. I can say from experience that they'll keep you safe in a crash. I crashed my first and my kids and I were just fine. Air bags went off, so it was an instant total. That I bought another tells you how much I like the car.

    Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Peppy engine, good handling, nice Euro comfort -- supportive but not too stiff.

Cons: Too-low 5th gear, don't age very well (rattling, styling is very dated), timing belt issues.

Love It To Death — Basicly i love everything about my car ask anybody who knows me well and they will tell you the same. i love the shape the interior layout the simple 2 liter the sound system thats in it the brembo brakes i put on it and the kn air filter too it accelerates very quick for only 120hp it hands great i was one of the only people not to go off the road going over the mountain during the winter its very solid the only maintance it needs is only basic like brake pads or a filter it was a little boxy until i put the spoiler on it that helped alot i also added a 97 grill because i like the 1 peice grill better that the 2 piece grill it is AMAZING on gas it averages 35mpg between city and highway if you have to chance drive one of these standard though

    Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Fun to drive even though it doesnt have much hp it is light and torquey so it makes up for it

Cons: not much the only thing would be the paint the guy i bought it from gave it a macco paint job :(
