The Toyota Corolla saw a few changes for 1995. All Corollas got a new audio system, and the DX sedan got new upholstery. The 1.8-liter engine, just introduced the year before, had 10 horsepower shaved off due to new emissions laws.
The 1995 Toyota Corolla was available as a wagon and a sedan. The wagon came in the DX trim level, and the sedan came as a standard, DX, or LE. The base engine was a four-cylinder, 1.6-liter, 102-horsepower engine, and the DX and LE sedans could be upgraded to a 1.8-liter, 105-horsepower engine. Fuel economy, depending on the engine and transmission, was about 26-34 mpg.
Drivers of the 1995 Toyota Corolla like it for its reliability and fuel efficiency. Not many owners buy the 1995 Corolla for its looks, which is often described as bland and conservative. While these cars do not often head to the repair shop, when they do, owners find that parts can be expensive to replace.

I totaled the first 95 corolla just bought from dealer new then one week later rolled the car 5 times on the freeway median. going 60mph. There was minimal damage and both me and my wife walked away from the accident without any injury. She had a bruise from the seat belt and i had a couple of small pieces of glass from the back windshield.. That is why I purchase the same exact car per insurance policy coverage.Nov 18, 2012

Like: Handling, Smoothness, Quietness
Dislike: Power , since the car is only a 1.5 liter 4 cylinder engine but trust me it gets the work done with about 34 MPG. You will never be stuck without money in your wallet or on the side of the road.Sep 29, 2012

Not much room for passengers with long legs in the back seats. I really like the looks and handleing plus not much maintanence. Just add gas and go. Wish it had a timing chain instead of a belt. I love the car, always gets me where I want to go and never leaves me stranded.Jul 31, 2012

This is one of those cars that has lived up to its reputation. I had a 1987 Corolla that I loved until a college student drove into it in a parking lot so hard he pushed me into the next lane. That's what caused me to go buy this 1995 Corolla which has been outstanding. I've used only Castrol GTX and never miss an oil change and the car has repaid me buy running for 14 years in my possession and counting. I had to replace the distributor at 301,000 miles and I've replaced the starter once which was at about 225,000 miles and the alternator once at about 200,000 miles.Aug 28, 2011

We've owned this car since '04. It has given us total value and rarely ever let us down. We even spent last year running up and down the Va. highways, moving stuff, sleeping in it and in general beating the heck out of it. and it still goes. One of the front wheel bearings is going out, we repacked it and it still goes. The gas mileage is phenominal. It has a 5-speed in it, and we were getting offers to buy it whenever we were any where near the D.C. area. Offers that ranged from 1500. to 2200.
We won't sell it, it's been too good to us.
I'd recommend it to anybody looking to buy a good used car, if they can find one.Jun 16, 2011

It's ok for everyday use but lacks the torque i require and also i'm more of a rear wheel guy but the car is good for now, it serves it purpose. Good family car and easy to maintain. Overall it's enjoyable and a safe car.Apr 26, 2011

20 years old and still standing. No rust, great body integrity, small and light makes for easy corners. Performance lacks slightly but small tuneups and modifications help slowly bring it back to life. Done many visual mods myself whcih help make it a little more appealing, i definitely had a great place to start though. Gas mileage is about 28 in the city which is great, fill ups are cheap and go for about 300 miles on a tank. Amazing car to drive. Fun yet practicalApr 06, 2011

good gas mileage. very easy to work on. parts are cheap. your able to drive it hard cuz its durable. will last forever. not the fastest car around but you can do worse. rattles and squeks typical of a 15 year old car. just get rid of the stock goodyear regatta tires and get a better set of tires and you have a pretty great a to b transportation.Dec 20, 2010

does everything its supposed to do just fine. a commuter car that's reliable, solid, nimble, and fun if you know what you're doing (turbo!). the steering feel is a bit vague and it doesn't communicate how far you are from the limit, but push it and it obeys. it blends in with the millions of other econoboxes out there and does not stand out, perfect for parking it anywhere and going places. speaking of going places, this car will take you almost anywhere without complaint. gotta love this car! good starter car, great mpg, unfortunately in white it seems to resemble an old persons car, goes fast, small and easy to handle, no real blindspot, on the downside, very small in comparison to others on the highway and would not fair well in an accidentApr 20, 2009

Performance :
Brilliant, I say. As this car's 4A-FE engine produce 116hp @ 6000rpm of power and 137Nm of torque @ 4800rpm, enough for high speed driving while keeping the fuel efficiency rate high. Tested 0-60mph @ 15sec on its original setting, not bad for a 1.6L engine compared to other engines. Superb for daily driving, but if you suddenly got the need for speed, this car could fit your need easily. If you're hungry for more power, you could swap it with a more powerful 4A-GE or the monstrous 4A-GZE supercharged engine.
Build Quality:
Very good, I have experience few minor bumps and a major crash but still running. You could rely on the construction strength if you suddenly crash into something. But aware of the lower section such as suspension, ball joint, steering rack etc. as these parts need a little more attention than any other parts.
Appearance:
Masculine yet gentle. The appearance won't let you down when you get side-by-side with newer cars. The models is everlasting and never gets old. A few tweaks will make this car's appearance even more.
Cost of Ownership:
Gas mileage is quite economic as you can get 10km out of 1 Liter of fuel. Maintenance cost is not a problem if you could afford about 200 US$/year. But a complete renewal such as engine overhaul, body repainting & repairing, etc. can cost you over 2.000 US$.
Fun Factor:
Can keep the smile on your face whatever you do, driving, racing, or even show-off!Mar 13, 2009

Well the car is a good little car for going back and forth. It does have its fun moments when you pull the e-brake in dirt or something else that's loose. The nice thing to remember is that it has a rally spirit but mine has been tamed for the road. Dec 29, 2008

The dang thing lasts! It takes plenty of neglect and just keeps on going. It's totally ordinary and unexciting, and loud and constantly going out of tune. It's got pretty soft brakes and pretty hard seats. Its features weren't even cool when it was new. But it just keeps on getting us from point A to point B.Dec 28, 2008

This car is horriable in acceleratio but handles great. Corolla's are bad for struts and i had to replace the rear struts a lot of times. I like the way the outside of the car is designed but the inside is pretty old lookin. Giving it's a 95 I'll cut it some slack.Aug 24, 2008

While I can offer no appreciation for the styling and performance these are not viable reasons to consider the corolla. Solid engineering and fuel efficient the corolla is a great choice for its class.Jun 30, 2008

This car is great on gas especially when its $4.00 + a gallon. Its Standard, light, and small so it is fun to drive. It has a 1.6L straight-4 so it doesn't have to much power. For being 14 years old and having 140k miles on it, it still runs good. So far we have replaced the radiator and the starter. The brake lines and fuel line have rotted out mainly because of the salt on the road in the winter. The body is still holding up with not a whole lot of rust. The interior is pretty much pristine. I would tell those who need a car that is great on gas to look at the Toyota Corolla. Plus, the new ones look awesome.Jun 26, 2008

My Jeep Grand Cherokee was stolen and I needed to get a cheap car fast! A co-worker just bought a new Jetta Diesel and wanted to get rid of her 95 bare-bones Corolla. The only opitons were air conditioning and 3-speed automoatic transmission.
Even though it had 218,000 miles on the clock, she had this car from new and changed the oil every 3000 miles. It wasn't my first choice but she only wanted $1,500.00 for it and I needed a car for work.
As it was the base model it had the small 1.6 liter 4-cylinder engine and with a 3-speed auto box it was slow and loud. The engine never seemed to clam down ar freeway speeds and there was little sound insulation (or so it semmed).
But, for a year this little car took me everywhere I needed to go without any trouble at all. There was absolutely nothing wrong with this car aside from the fact that it was boring. As a matter of fact, one year and 32,000 miles after I bought the car I sold if for more than I originally paid.
If you need a really cheap little car (that's really good on gas) as a daily driver you ought to consider a used Corolla. Try to find the best car for the money you can spend and try to get as much maintenence history as possible.
It may not be the most exciting car to drive but it sure is painless to live with.

what makes toyota corolla 1995 model to stop , when driving. It star by showing engine light on the dashboard later stop, and after 20 to 30 minutes it will start agaiin and drive for some minutes
I have been using Premium gas in my 1995 Corolla and getting about 35 mpg on the highway. I don't have the owner's manual so I don't know what the manufacturer's recommended fuel type is. Can I change to Regular gas without hurting the car or substantially decreasing my mpg?
Is it possible that my Corolla has ABS in the front but not the rear? Trying to replace the rear wheel bearings but I can’t figure out which part to order - they come with and without ABS
I have a corolla that will crank over but won't fire up ( start). I've replaced the spark plugs w/(ngk), wires (std), cap & rotor. I get fuel, spark, and sometimes it sound as if it wants to catch (briefly) and start but doesn't. I want to suggest the crank positioning sensor, but am not sure if I would be getting spark if it was bad. Any suggestions would be appreciated sooner better cant miss too much work. Thanks In advance.
I brought the car and didn't realize the previous bastard owner lost the cap, to the power steering fluid, would it be possible for me to cover the power steering fluid with something else temporarily until i can order a whole new unit.
