1994 Lexus GS Preview summaryImage

The Lexus GS 300 launched as a late 1993 model, and, as a result, there were no changes between the debut and 1994 model years. The car had a reliable, 3.0 liter, six cylinder engine that produced 220 horsepower and offered drivers few hassles even a decade after it had bounced around the after market.

The car had the wood trim and luxury add-ons that drivers had been accustomed to in other Lexus vehicles. Some owners complained about the design of the cup holders and most would have liked to have seen something other than the trunk-mounted CD player.

But the GS 300 was still a favorite. "There is no doubt in my mind that this is one of the best vehicles ever produced for mass consumption on the planet," said one happy owner after selling his GS 300 after eight years of ownership.

Build quality is great! Car is really comfortable, reliable, and looks great. No complaints. Gas mileage is ok...could be better for a 6 cylinder. Wish I had a turbo...but it will come soon. Accelerates decently. It was designed more for comfort and luxury. Its the Japanese Cadillac to me. I won't part with this one. Apr 14, 2011

The Lexus GS300 is a great sedan with lots of luxury. The GS has a 3.0 liter in-line 6 motor called the 2JZ-GE (the same engine as a toyota MK IV, but n/a) This motor produced 226 hp with 220 lbs of torque. At the time of its release in 1994 the car's msrp was about $37,000. In 1996 the car's transmission was changed to a 5-speed automatic transmission rather than a 4-speed which offered better gas millage and a closer gear ratio.Feb 07, 2008
