The Dodge Ram Pickup 1500 half-ton is a machine built for work. There are two engines available in the 1994 Dodge Ram 1500: a 3.9-liter V6 in the 2WD model, or a 5.2-liter V8 in the 4WD. The V6 has 175 hp of pulling power, while the V8 has an impressive 200 hp. All models come with an available 6.5-foot or 8-foot bed. The half-ton pickup easily stands up to its rating.
Comfort-wise, the 1994 Dodge Ram 1500 has a number of options available, depending on the package you want. Options include air conditioning, tilt steering, cruise control, a tachometer, and a cassette player. For driving ease, a 4-speed automatic transmission is available in all models of the Dodge Ram half-ton, though a 5-speed manual comes standard. Gas mileage isn't great, especially in the V8, but that's to be expected from a heavy-duty truck.
Owners of the 1994 Dodge Ram 1500 were generally happy with the truck, though there were a few problems. Transmissions and water pumps needing replacement too early were the main complaints, though a number of people commented on the poor factory paint job that came with the Ram 1500. But over and over, people were happy with the overall performance of the 1994 Dodge Ram, which seems to be a true workhorse.

Great truck, i have done lots of work on it and put alot of money into itt. reliable truck it just needed some tender loving care and thats what it got. could never ask for a better first truck than this one.May 11, 2013

Like the room in side the cab. The comfy seats and ride that it gives. Not like most trucks where it seems like your driving a lumber wagon. Great body style. Only thing I have a complaint with is the grille. Because the grille is bolted to the hood, and doesn't have much clearance from the front bumper. If hood is closed to hard, it ends up breaking the grille bolting tabs off.Nov 23, 2011

i love that she never stops doing what trucks do. this truck is only a half ton but i have pulled a 23 foot boat with no issues, countless cars on flatbeds with no issues. stopping with large loads is also not an issue. this truck has been through many wrecks so i am definitely not the only one who is continually surprised that it is still rockin in the free worldDec 01, 2010

This pickup is awesome. I could not be more pleased. It is a very snappy little
pickup that will go through almost anything. It is very easy on gas. It is a blast to
drive. it is a great looking pickup that is built to last. It has a few custom items like
the tail lights and rims.Sep 10, 2010

Its an 85.This thing was fast, fresh 318 with a 4 barrell carb, big cam and headers, this was my first truck.Got it with a blown motor so i slowly started the rebuild. It was ugly but in great shape body wise so i went with it but just couldnt afford to drive it.Aug 30, 2010

This truck has power and that 318 is a bullet proof engine, the
bed is large, cab is spacious and it performs very well under
pressure. Very low ownership costs. 1991 was the first year
Dodge made this truck and it shows with the paint flying off like
snowflakes and rocker arms deteriorating, it still needed to be
perfected and they did in the next few years until the 3rd new
generation came out, now they all suck.Jul 14, 2010

Bought this thing at the start of summer and drove it untill october when the motor decided to quit,(high millage) oh well I had my fun with it while I had it. The only thing I don't miss is filling up the tank at 140$ every timeMar 01, 2010

acceleration, steering, suspension, "engine bay" is
pretty big, easy to fix, the bad is every thing is
expensive and when stuff breaks it usually cost's a
pretty penny! it's fun to drive. gas milage sucks
though. 26 gallon tank and 12mpg :(Jan 01, 2010

the truck is faster than most but it could have the hemi in it, it isn't a 4x4 but it lasts forever and can be used for just about anything with its long box. But the worst is it only has 3 seatsDec 16, 2009

well the performance is ok it accelerates like a slug uphill. it needed some minor repairs for being 15 yrs old. i can usually fill up once a week. if it had 35 in. tires it would be real fun.Nov 26, 2009

Love the truck. It can get me out to the field and back, and I don't have to worry much about it getting around out there in the woods. It's a great all around truck. Would definately buy another one.Aug 26, 2009

I bought this thing new in Nov of ´94 as I recall. One of the first new modles in Phx. After almost 15 years and 105k mi later, the darn thing thing keeps running well and therefore can´t trade it in. Performance-still runs like new, acceleration, braking (replaced shoes at about 70k) handles fine. Replaced water pump and rebuilt master cylinder at about 60k. Appearance- Of course half the paint peeled off so I sanded and painted with $10 checker paint, buffed and waxed, hardly noticeable, no other repairs. Cost of ownership- Figure $19k vehicle plus $500 in repair over $15 years?? $250/mo (incl gas & ins) not bad. I loved this truck when I bought it and just can´t bear to trade in a well running truck for something new. Although with the discounts out there and the cash for clunkers, I may get into a Nissan Frontier SE quad cab for about $275/mo. Not bad. Undecided.Jul 03, 2009

This is a great truck and I've put it through hell. It's got a solid engine (318 cubic inch or 5.2L) with a more than ample amounts of power. The interior is nothing to wright home about but its functional and easy to clean. The bed has more than enough room and its tow capacity is substantial. Even overloaded this truck performs well. Just make sure you take care of the transmission. without the proper fluid and regular maintenance these trannys don't last very long.Aug 10, 2008

I like this truck. Lotsa miles, but good for work-truck. Had practically new tires when I bought it. Windows don't roll down & AC doesn't work. "It's a $1500 work truck." As my friend, the salesman, told me.Apr 22, 2008

My Father bought this vehicle new. When He passed away, I bought this vehicle from my Mother because He had no problems with it. i have driven this truck daily for three years and have done nothing but regular maintanence. It now has 85000 miles on it and need to replace oil seal on front drive.Sep 09, 2007

I've been very happy w/ it though it tends to have transmission trouble. I've had to replace the transmission 2x and the overdrive housing 1x. Right now i'm having trouble tracking down a short.Sep 03, 2007
with no warning loses power sits for a little bit starts up goes a few miles then repeats the same thing, it's not running hot and it's not out of gas and the longer you let it sit between drives the further it goes
Put in used transmission, new filter and fluid and it only has forward gear, even in reverse or neutral changed the overdrive solenoids, the only electrical part in there and it still does the same thing, forward in every selector position except for park and it tries even then to pull forward a little for a second what is wrong?
Passenger side headlight is dim and when I switch to high beams it gets even dimmer. Driver's side works perfectly. I have changed both bulbs, checked that all the grounds are tight and removed the daytime running lights module as I thought that was the issue, but nothing has helped. What to check next??
