Awesome! — An evolution of the 99 fi rst seen in 1968, the 900, launched in 1979, makes a great classic buy. Offered in saloon, hatch or convertible forms, there’s a derivative for every occasion, prices are low and you won’t fi nd a classic more solidly built than here. However, having been saddled with banger status for several years, most examples are tired and in need of more expenditure than they’ll ever be worth. The key is to look for a really good one, which needn’t cost much more than a dog, then look after it – you’ll soon see why Saab fans are so keen on this oddball Swede.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: I love the look, the handling and the power

Cons: It was difficult to find a good SAAB car mechanic

Cool Cruiser — Performance and handling make this car a relaxed cruiser. I really enjoy driving this although I wish it had a little bit more power. Fuel consumption is not particularly great. The appearance and styling are really great. This car feels like a pair of comfortable and stylish trousers.

    Primary Use: Commuting to work

    Pros: The looks

    Cons: The performance

Jordans Car — It is a good car. I really need it fixed but all the parts are also for Ferris. The car is an exellint daly driver in the summer but it kind of stuggles in the winter. Im hopin to get it fixed so i can turn it in to a street racer.

    Pros: The Gas milgeage

Cons: All the parts are expencive

Den Stora Swede — I Love this car. That about says it, but although this car is not turbo charged it still has some pep, especially down low. The torque peak is at 2900 RPM, which gives it some umph when you are just crusin through traffic. The styling of the car was obviously not done by Porsche Design, but it is definitely unique. They only down side to this car is the close gear ratio which makes highway driving very noisy. Through town and on country roads the car is brilliant it handles better than average altough there is still room for improvment. One of the best things about the car is how well it drives in the snow. All of the weight is in the front so it really grips quite well despite the crappy kmart blue light special tires that are on it (I did not put them on, the previous owner did). This car (knock on wood) is built like a tank, this due to SAAB's rally heritage and there idea to build this car like a rally car. I would recommend this as a first car or as a fun run-around car (not farm car).

Pros: Unique,  great in the snow, low end torque, fun to drive

    Cons: N/a

Love It — I love this car, but the repair manuals suck when you have to fix something. None of them use the same thing for anything

Solid Swede — I bought this 900 as a replacement for my 1988 Saab 900 8v. When I got it back in 2003, it only had 72,000 miles on it. It's now pushing 180,000. It's been very reliable, very practical, and pretty fun for a daily driver. It's getting rough now and showing its age and use a bit, but I don't expect this one to leave the stable any time soon.

    Pros: Quick, reliable, practical, fun.

Cons: It could use a cup holder.

Tank Of A Car — I have 125k miles on mine, and it takes some love - you have to keep up to date with the exhaust system and brakes, and once I had to fix a serious oil leak in the engine, but in general this car just keeps going. Looks ridiculous - it's a big car - but the mileage is excellent (30 mph highway).
