The Nissan Altima was introduced in 1993 as a replacement for the Stanza. In fact, for its first year the car's official name was the Stanza Altima. The Altima stared life as a compact car and slotted in between the Sentra and the Maxima in terms of size, amenities, and power.
The 1993 Altima came in four trim levels: the base XE, the midrange GXE, the sporty SE, and the luxurious GLE. All Altimas in the lineup shared a 2.4 liter, 150 horsepower four cylinder engine. Fuel economy is 21/29 mpg.
Drivers largely speak highly of the 1993 Altima, saying they are very dependable and had plenty of pickup compared to similar cars of the same era. Some drivers complain that the car is too small for taller people, and a few have had many electrical problems.

This car had good acceleration, good braking, and good handling. It needed motors in all the windows they did not roll up or down. The interior was good it was kinda water stained. The exterior was great, no dents. Gas mileage was great. I loved driving this car because of the loud muffler. Oct 19, 2011

I bought it for $1200 and it was a great car. 5 speed manual, and for a compact car, it had good performance. AC could be colder but it's fine and it's R134, so its easy to refill. Good handling, fun to drive. I would definitely buy another again in a heartbeat. I loved this car and it was an amazing running car, especially for $1200, with 170,000 miles.Oct 17, 2011

It breaks down every week! I hate having to get this car fixed so often. Not exaggerating, it needs repair every 1 and 1/2 to 2 months. It's fun to drive because of the speed. I want a new car! (More specifically a 2010 Nissan GT-R)(Pretty please)Jul 28, 2009

If you are looking for a car that won't leave your pockets empty while still being comfortable and have decent performance, the Altima is a win. I managed to go up to 200km/h with this ride without having an accident. The suspension is a bit too soft which means the road holding is not at it's best but it's not designed to be a sport car anyway. Seats are comfortable. Some issues with the transmission as it's a bit harshy on 1st to 2nd gear. I used to make less than 500km with a 55L tank which is unacceptable but understandable for a car that has some age. Engine is good and has good throttle response but the transmission is a pain in the ass. Standard equipment is good for the time, with all the electric group (power windows, power locks, A/C etc). I recommand this car because it's cheap to buy while still giving you a lot for your money.Jul 15, 2009

its very stable, the engine is satisfying, the sound system is disturbing, the shade is so dark, the air con is so cold

I owned this car at the end of it's life anyways. I have no fair opinion. I liked the car, it was very quick for a four door sedan. has the same motor as the 240sx. very comfortable. the gxe I had had all the power options I could want. didn't put a lot of maintenance into it and that was what eventually killed it.Mar 24, 2009

I paid 800 for the car and spent 200 in repairs so far.
It had 214,000 on it when I bought it and now it has 245,000 and still runs great. It's front wheel drive, so I can break the tires loose around almost any corner that I have encountered so far.Sep 11, 2008

Well, since it's not a car you can go offroading in, I added simply a nice system. It sounds good and thats why Overall, its better than the rest of my categories. Its fun to drive just cause it has a bumpin system. The only thing I am a little sketchy about now is when I drove up here to college it starts shaking a bit around 85.Sep 04, 2008

rite now its a pos but ima fix it up. it has pretty good proformance for a stock car. the outside and inside is crappy tho. it has all kinds of dents and scratches an the paint is faded. it has no hubcaps either. i got it for 70$ ab few months ago.Sep 04, 2008

Car turns off while driving
My 93 Nissan Altima turned off while I was driving twice in 5 days and when I parked, it turned on with no problem. It did the same thing today but wouldn’t turn back on. I went and had the battery tested and they said it was charged but the battery was bad. I got a new battery but car still won’t start. It cranks but won’t start. Could it be the alternator or fuel pump? I need some help
