I get a tps (throttle positin sensor) code but the two screws are frozen in position.#3 and #4 Phillips screwdriver heads won't quite mesh. Liquid wrench doesn't help. The sensor is made out of plastic. About the only way solutin I can see to replacing the sensor is using a dremil cut off disk to cut away the plastic so I can get a vice grip on the phillips head screws. Am I on the correct path?
I have a brain puzzler for ya. I was driving down the interstate the other day and all of a sudden it started overheating so I pulled over let it cool down and went to start it after a good 30min was completely cooled down and it sounded like it was out of time or no compression. So I had it towed home pulled her apart and found out the harmonic balancer was done. So I replaced that as well as the timing chain (while I was in there mise well) and I go to start and the same issue. I checked I have spark, I have fuel, and I have plenty of compression. coil is fine everything. just sounds like the bottom end is the only thing moving. I pulled the valve cover and all the rockers and everything where moving pulled the distributer cap off and the distributer itself is moving so the gears are fine on that. Oil and tranny fluid both look fine no shavings. Any ideas?? Start a new question...
I have a 93 topaz, we have been stuck on this for about a month now we've replaced the firing coil an the distributor plug modual and it acts the same as before we bought the cars, it willl want to crack up and run than die right out my father even took the plug out and grounded it to get a fire and it would one minute and not the next, So the big question is where on a mercury topaz does the coil get the power to seen to the distributor, is there a replay?? or maybe another part before the coil thats not giving it power. Thanks for your time!
