A Van That Never Let Me Down For 140,000 Miles. — My van has been a great piece of transportation. Even after 140K mi the engine and transmission are stong and have no leaks at all. It's the body that has given up on the old tank. I do wish it did alittle better than 20 mpg. I plan to retire it as my main vehicle to just use it if I need to haul something with it. I know it still has plenty of good miles left in it and I'll use it till the doors fall off.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Good reliable transportation. Plenty of cargo space. Rides well.

Cons: Heater seems undersized for midwest winters.

Astro — Best all around vehicle I've ever owned - hauls 8 pax plus gear comfortably, take out the bench seats and you've got a real cargo hauler with 4 feet between the wheel wells. Let me down only twice - water pump at 190000km and fuel pump at 200000km. Lots of torque for hauling the boat and with 5 speeds decent gas milage. Not a whole lot of fun to drive but what van or truck is? 245000km and still going strong.

Pros: does it all

Cons: not a sports car

Astro Van — It's been a very good running van I've had it for seven years and have had very little problems with it. One thing though is there has always been the service engine light on but hasn't seemed to be a problem. The paint howere is awful it's peeling and peeling away.

Pros: Strong runner

Cons: paint problems

Chevy Astro Gladiator Conversion Van — Not a bad van. Mine had the full Gladiator conversion package. Extended headroom, lay-down bench seat in the back, TV and VCR (later changed to a PS2), cruise control, amazing upholstery, fantastic interior lighting, the works. It drove like a huge, heavy van, of course, but it wasn't underpowered. Unfortunately I lost both side mirrors (to a mailbox and a pickup truck), the driver's side glass (to my brother), and the transmission (to a road trip). But until then, it was a great vehicle.

Pros: Roomy, reliable, every option.

Cons: Bad on gas.

Amazing — so far it has performed great, with a quick response and very tight handling for a van. it needs a little work, mostly cosmetic, it does squeak when it hits bumps but that is just the back hatch from damage. it needs a windshield and rear bumper. the paint is slightly worn and could be redone but is holding up great, and the mileage is actually very good for a van. the interior is clean, even though it was a work van, it just needs all the seats put back in, and it is probably a blast to drive, i just don't know yet. my dad seemed to love it.

Pros: performance, mileage, build, comfort

Cons: slight body damage, missing seats.

A Poor Choice For Alberta — It's a van. Good for abducting children, cargo space, and thanks to it's truck like frame, hauling trailers. Essentially useless for anything else. Despite a 165hp, 4.3L V6 engine, she is a weak performer. Acceleration, top speed, and handling are quite poor. Gas mileage also sucks. And rear wheel drive makes her quite useless during the winter ... unless spinning 360's around every corner is your thing ... However, she is quite reliable and still riding after 270k kms.

Pros: you can haul 7 friends with you on your gas guzzling journey

Cons: performance, fuel economy, looks, handling
