1993 Audi V8 Reviews, Pricing & Specs
Write a reviewLike a well-made creme brulee, the Audi V8 might look a bit bland and unexciting on the outside compared to the splashier profiteroles on your neighbor's table. But bite into it, and your tongue will be enveloped in luxuriously creamy sensations that set your body atingle. The 1993 Audi V8 may look like a four-door luxury top-of-the-line sedan that will serve you well as a business car or upscale family tourer, but it hides a good helping of thrilling sports performance under its hood. Powered by a 4.2-liter, twin-cam V8 engine at 276-hp, it is paired only with a 4-speed automatic transmission. The manual option has been discontinued in the 1993 V8.
Standard quattro all-wheel drive and 4-wheel ABS brakes help ensure a solid, sturdy ride on any road, while Audi engineering creates precise handling and cornering. Though the pickup is a bit labored, the 1993 V8 excels on the highway, becoming a little bomber that owners say is fun to drive. Inside is all about comfort, with heated front and rear leather seats, power heated mirrors and locks, a sunroof, convenient ski bag, center console with folding armrest, security system, and CD changer all standard.
The 1993 is fast and fun, say drivers, who love the quattro performance in winter snow and ice. The confident handling is complemented by a smooth transmission and a comfortable interior layout. Galvanized zinc coating prevents rust, and the V8 holds its appearance well over the years. Drivers say if you maintain it well, it will last forever. Low points include the slow acceleration and some complaints about soft braking. The front foot space is cramped and there are no cupholders. While some love the understated elegant look, others feel it is too boring for a high performance car.

I have a 1993 Audi Quattro 4.2L V8 which sat for 2 yrs. Replaced starter last week & car now runs - but only for about 15 min before "shutting down"...sometimes preceded by a temp warning light, sometimes not...cleaned fuel pump intake screen & filter (lots of dirt in both)...my local Audi dealer (Dave Strong Audi of SLC, UT) wont even look at the car (the reason given is the car is "pre-Volkswagon")...
