For 1992, Toyota discontinued the Corolla coupe. Other changes that model year included new paint color choices and the option of a four-speed automatic transmission with the LE sedan.
The 1992 Toyota Corolla came in several trim levels. The sedan came as a base, DX or LE and the wagon was available as a DX or SR5. All Corollas came equipped with a DOHC, 16-valve inline four-cylinder engine with 102 horsepower. The 1992 Corolla gets about 26-33 mpg, depending on the transmission.
Owners of the 1992 Toyota Corolla like the car for its indestructible nature, but many complain about the lack of modern features, since airbags, power windows and doors, and other safety/convenience items were either not available or only options on this car. Other drivers have had problems with the door handles snapping off.
What owners say
"Overall, drivers of the 1992 Toyota Corolla love its reliability, affordability, and good fuel economy. Many appreciate how well it handles and its durability over the years, with some cars running over 200,000 miles with minimal issues. However, a few owners mentioned that parts can be hard to find and costly, and some experienced minor performance issues, especially regarding acceleration and brakes. Overall, it’s seen as a dependable choice for those seeking a budget-friendly vehicle."
had this car for 3 years now. very comfortable for a small car, handles 4 passengers without complaint. sips gas, is prone to leak a little oil but very minor. parts are relatively cheap if you buy aftermarket/used replacement. power windows, a/c, cruise, velour seats are all very nice features for an older car. acceleration isnt great, passing power is almost nonexistant, but the engine hardly ever complains. leans a bit in corners but sticks to the road well. great little car.
May 14, 2010I'm still driving a Corolla 1.3L from year 1992. Even though it runs on a 2E carburated engine but the performance is superb! The engine is almost bullet proof as i constantly drive it in high speed hig revs! Can easily out-sprint most 1.6L modern cars. Sharp handling and very zippy car for it's size. Provides good fuel economy if well maintained! The only pain is that parts are hard to find and very costly. Do look out for engine oil leaks though if driven hard constantly. But leaks are not costly to repair as replacing the o-rings and oil seals will help to patch it up. The car has comfort seats but with very simple functions/features on board. Otherwise it would be a very fun car to drive!
April 29, 2010I have travelled 130000Kl with little or no problems have always had serviced each 5000Kl which I think is well worth the cost. I have had no problem's with it & would drive it anywhere.

August 22, 2007Love her to death... Only car I've had, she handles quite well, haven't had much to repair on her either, just an alternator. Still original engine, have done, I think, about 255,000Km and still going strong for a car that is 17 years old.
October 14, 2009Excellent car. These things run forever.
April 22, 2008really good gas mileage. There is no problems with the brakes except they arent as good as most. It accelerates at an acceptable pace. Has good handling. It is fun to drive. It hasn't needed any repairs since i owned it and i have only owned it for 8 months. It is a small car though.
September 29, 20101992 4 door liftback. 1.6i DOCH Consumes only a little gas. Cheap to buy, keep and drive. Car itself is really lightweight, so it goes faster than you would first think for 105 horsepower. Corolla might be part of the grey mass, but it's always reliable and gets you from a to b.
December 2, 2009this car is a tank i still have it still drives like new best car ever!!! this car has drive to and from NY twice been in snow floods and 110 degree hear as well as storms towed trailers and been deep in off road territory and it never never said no what a car!!
September 28, 2009This is the most reliable car I've ever owned. 245,000 original miles and it keeps going. Runs even with minor repairs needed.
October 27, 2006The space was enough for my wife and I to camp out from the back, I got 38 MPG once on an all highway miles trip. The short nose let me see exactly where I was going and the windows were big enough to see out the back too The only thing was really the rust which meant that the parts had to be replaced more often and since it is so old, they had to be from the dealer. It wasn't an issue for me, but it did lack the power to do well on hills
