1992 Toyota 4Runner Review
My dad had one. It rode rough with a lot of bouncing around. A lot of interior noise.

Handling Ranked 1992 Jeep Wrangler better.
"My jeep has bigger wider tires it smoothed out the ride. Even with the top down stereo on its not overwhelming noisy. The 4 runner had a lot of exterior noise brought inside combine that with stereo and engine noise....unbearable"
Family Car Ranked 1992 Jeep Wrangler worse.
"Higher back seats and more cargo space for those family needs."

I Love It — She's currently in the "fix-up" status but she will be great when I'm done with her. She handles great at slower speeds (she is 21 years old..). Love the tail-gate, and the rear lowering window. Not a looker, but I plan to drive the americas with it, so the red door and minor rust will have me fitting in a little better as a gringo.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: 4x4, easy to fix, high clearance, moonroof, reliable,

Cons: things do break

Great Car — I love everything about this car. It takes me where i want to go with comfortable seating all around. I like to take it off road with my kids and just have fun. The only bad part is that it doesnt get great gas mileage.

Pros: Love this car. Works in any conditions.

Cons: Power

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Easy handling, and great in the snow.  New shocks give it a nice smooth ride like a car.

Cons: Fuel economy (17-19) mpg isn't the greatest, but what SUV is?

Old 4 Runner Is A Pile Of Crap. — I just blew the second head gasket in six months. It is under powered and handles terribly. It get horrible fuel milege. The rear engine oil seal is going bad so the truck leake oil when I park it. There is always a big puddle of oil where ever I park. This has turned out to be one of the worst cars I have ever owned!

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Nothing

Cons: Read my comments above.

It's A Sportsy Car And That's What I Love About It. — As I said before my truck needs some work done under the hood and the front wheel bearings possibly replaced, but it's a reliable piece of machinery. I find it perfect for off- roading when I'm visiting relatives out on the rez.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: It's a sturdy vehicle that sits high off the ground

Cons: Parts cost waaaaaay too much

Undestructable — there is no performance but once you get going theres no stopping, its great people just get out of the way when they look in the mirror and see this big black truck with a push bar and big fod lights they just move and quickly too.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: people move out of the way.

Cons: gas guzler

If The Roof Came Off It Would Be Wicked — i like the amount of space, cup holders it gets a decent 23 mpg can hold its own offroad even though it is almost completely stock, i dont likr the electric rear window and it is rather under powered but i can ask for much more given it has 385,000km and has no complaints

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: reliable, good offroad,

Cons: i like the first gen 4runner better

Standard Vehicle Owner —

The 1992 V6, 4WD 4Runner Tun is a gre3at word for this vehicle, it is an absolutely wonderful vehicle to drive in town or off road. Toyota trucks and SUV are outstanding in terms of rarely is it in the shop if you take standard care of it, it is extremely responsive and comfortable (I am only 5'6", but for a larger person it can be quite cramped, at least my 92 4Runner is). The interior and exterior hold up very well, & I expect them to urn in wel excess of 200000 miles if you take care of them. HOWEVER, The 1992 Toyota 4Runner is extremely under powered, even with the V6. Excelleration is not very good, average gas millage driving in town is maybe 14.5 m.g. or worse. Road maybe 16 - 16.5 miles per gallon (I have an automaatic Trans with power everthing)Towing my light aluminum 17' fish and sky boat is really a challenge - excelleration is awful, gas millage drops to around 6 miles per gallon - not accetptable. However, they are extremely solid and should do great in an accident, trave throuh the back crountry in Arizon like a mountain goat. Ride is excellent - everything is excellent except gas milage and power or lack of it). I would HIGHLY recommend the Toyota 4 Runner to just about anyone, but I recommend purchasing the 1992, 1993, and 1901 models. I would rather drive my 4Runner than my full size 2002 Ford crew cab diesel truck, and it is an outstanding vehicle also.

Pros: safety, structure, goes on and on and on, wonderful in town and in the back country, get 4WD

Cons: I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW HOW TO IMPROVE THE POWER PERFORMANCE & GAS MILLAGE ON THIS VEHICLE??

4funner 4runner — Own this truck and love it. it has the 22RE motor so its amazing on gas. its very stable in the winter with all the weight over the rear axle giving you tons of traction. very fun to drive even though its under powered. a good trail machine. amazing in the snow, mud, rocks, sand, and anyware else you might put it.

Pros: amazing 4WD

Cons: under powered
