Fun To Drive — Outstanding build quality in respect to design, component fit/ quality, performance and drive appeal. The 5 speed transmission is smooth as silk, turbo boost is exceptional over 20 mph (not an out of the hole pocket rocket) but the acceleration when merging onto the highway keeps up with the best of them. Excellent driver seating positioning and comfort.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: Safety, performance and appearance ,

Cons: Back seat leg room when front seats are all the way back

Pleasure — The parts are very hard to find and expensive when you can find them. Mechanics that know how to repair this vehicle are few and far between. It is easy to waste large amont of money on this thing, until you find a proficient mechanis.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: Sun roof

Cons: Parts hard to get and expensive.  Labor is expensive and it's hard to find anyone that knows what they are doing.

I Always Wanted This Car — Bought this car in 2010. Odometer at 173,000. Everything works except the air conditioning, but Danbury Saab says that it is 'fixable'. Replaced a few lightbulbs and this car is in perfect condition. Love driving a convertible around town in the summer.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: Its a convertible!

Cons: People who are not Saab lovers will not be drawn to this.

Saab 900 — Fantastically quirky and very comfortable and cossetting environment for the driver. Really enjoyed owning it for 3 1/2 years, but was slightly worried that it had to have its gearbox changed a couple of times (thankfully both under warranty).

Pros: Comfort, handling

Cons: Not enough power, slow acceleration

1992 Saab 900s — This little Saab has quite good performance, thanks to the 2.1L, 16 valve four cylinder and five speed transmission. While the engine could use a tune up, it runs and drives very well. The thing handles like a go cart, rides fairly well, and is a blast to drive, though I don't care to much about the front wheel drive. I love the quirky interior design, being both to the point and very usable, and the outdated exterior with it's almost rally car appearance. It has great build quality and so far it's been cheap to afford, though from what I've read repairs can be expensive. Overall, it's a great car.

Pros: Great handling, quirky design, 5 speed

Cons: FWD, electrical gremlins

Saab 900 Xs 1992 — A quality Swedish car with more gizmos than you could shake a stick at. The ignition is between the two front seats, which was totally awesome! Mine was a 2ltr Injection 'XS' model, which sounds beefy, but the weight of the car meant acceleration was never mind-blowing. The braking was spot on with discs all-round. The car was an absolute joy on the open road, and in a league of its own on the motorway. I sold it however, due to it's mpg. These are thirsty cars, converting to LPG would be a serious consideration. If you don't like the look of these cars, then you need immediate brain surgery. Oh all other new shape Saabs are really Vauxhall Vectras in drag- steer clear.

Pros: Looks, build quality, gadgets, handling, price, safety

Cons: Fuel consumption

Solid And Ugly — I've always loved Saabs - they're 'different looking' (ie ugly to many), they sound different (kind of a high pitched tone, at least before GM bought the company), and they're solid. Mine's 15 years old; I've probably put $5k into it, but add that to its $18k price, that works out to $1.5k/year, which is pretty darn good. Plus it gets 24 mpg city 30 highway.
