1992 Stealth: 7 Years And 206,000 Smiles Of Fun — I am the second owner of a 1992 stealth base model. I was luckier than most as mine was a 1 owner vehicle that came with a complete service history folder the size of two phone books and it had under 100,000 miles. Seven years later and another 100,000 miles have passed. It has suffered from two altenator failures, (the hardest thing on the car to fix, due to its location) two new batteries, a clutch slave and master cylinder, several tires, lots of Castrol syntec until they changed the name, a radio failure, belts, hoses and air filters as needed, one cv axle, a light accident that dented the passenger side fender and broke the front indicator lens (AIG auto insurance said it was totalled and was going to take my car if I made a claim!) Also the repeated wear of two, then three, kids. As it is barely a four seater, it was useless as a family car after our third child was born, and barely adequate when our oldest turned 10. Overall, I can't recommend this car for somebody who doesn't know how to do basic maintenance, and it's definitely not a good first car for somebody. The 1992 model is over 20 years old now, and deserves some respect. So, if you're a boy racer or thinking of modifying one, please look elsewhere. There are very few that have remained stock like mine, and if you are looking for one, beware the modded ones. They have probably been poorly assembled and thrashed to death! Pay no more than $1200 for a broken home modified as you will probably need to replace the engine and transmission and the body may be twisted. Professionally modified should command top dollar only if it is purchased from the mod shop, if it has been used since the pro-mod, assume it is in the same condition as a rusty 400,000 mile Toyota corolla! Pure stock versions should be checked thoroughly as it may have been owned by someone who doesnt know where the oil goes. Most importantly, look for documentation! If there are reciepts and documentation, you know what needs to be done and what has been done. Also remember, original parts are expensive and hard to find as most modders chucked them when they did their thing.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Solid and well built. Great engine, brakes, suspension, reliability, steering feel,  gas mileage, looks, speed, cornering ability and flickability.

Cons: The clear coat peels off, so darker colored cars end up with missing paint spots, white cars hold up better. There are some poor quality plastics in the interior which will crack and break. (like the ashtray lid!) Also, as the car gets older, the wiring gets more brittle and operation of some accessories become a bit dodgy... Pun intended.

Excellent Car For A New Driver — The Stealth was a unique car back in the day. I can't say it was the most reliable (i.e. oil leak, brakes, etc) but it got me where I needed to go safely. The replacement parts for this car are fairly inexpensive also, which made the repairs manageable.

Pros: It was fast enough, and looked kind of cool for a car of the 90s. Plus, it was a hatchback and surprisingly had a lot of cargo space.

Cons: There was no back seats and only had room for 2.

The Life And Times Of A Sheltered Stealth — So far since I've had this car, its been very reliable and wall maintained from the previous owner (95,067 original miles). I love the fact that it has the power when I need it, but also a good over all drive. The only thing that kind of erks me is the fact that the back seats are pretty much non-functional. The space in the hatch is pretty much useless too. Now I know its a sports car first and everything else second so it doesn't bug me too much.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Rules the road with an awesome look!

Cons: Not a lot of room.

Perfect Commuter/second Vehicle — A perfect example of a Japanese "GT" car. This car handles well, has excellent power, hauls enough cargo to make it useful as a daily driver and fun vehicle, and looks excellent. Picked this up to replace the MR2 and was delighted to find one from Arizona in such great shape. For a 20 year old vehicle, build quality is top notch.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: The one, the only, the stealth

Cons: Needs more power

Very Cool Car, Looks Better Than The Body On The 3000gt And Its Very Fun To Own — Overall, I'm happy to have purchased the car. I've never owned a sports car before this, and it was a good first choice. Obviously, the drawbacks are the high costs of maintaining the vehicle, and the fact that it only gets about 18miles to a gallon on the street. But, when you drive it around and you feel like your back in 1992, the time machine aspect makes all the worry about owning such a mechanically despised car disappear. I've literally fallen in love with the car.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: The look, feel and power

Cons: The maintenance costs, 20 year old age, etc.

Best Damn Car Around — acceleration is fast and the maintenance on this car is kinda expensive but what do you expect from a car that is almost 20 years old but the car is a blast to drive and it doesn't get to bad of gas mileage either.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: everything, like there is something not awesome about my car

Cons: that it is currently not running

Its An Awesome Car. — The car is a great car.It handles great. it has a sport supension underneath it. It has a 3.0L V-6 DOHC puttin out at least 220HP. It has a 5-SPEED transmission. It has four wheel disc breaks so the stopping power is great. It has only needed jus the basic repairs for a 18 year-old car. it gets great gas milage for bein a sports car. and u get this car on some windy roads u will have yourself one hell of a time. It is very fun to drive

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: Its fun.

Cons: nothing

Absolutely The Best Car I Ever Owned (3 Mercedes, 3 Volvos, 2 Hondas, 2 Toyotas) — I've owned the R/T Turbo since '91...pristine, 60K miles, keep getting offers to sell it. Acceleration is still scary when you put the "pedal to the metal" even after almost 19 years! Spends a lot of time in the garage these days. Handling is superb. Most cons have been already covered. I had trouble from day one with computer...hesitation when engine cold. Took over 12 years and two replacements before it was resolved. Mechanics don't know much about this car. It's not a family car for sure.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Speed, handling, overall quality

Cons: Expensive to repair.few knowledgeable techs.
