1991 Toyota Corolla Preview summaryImage

The 1991 Toyota Corolla was virtually identical to the 1990 Corolla, when the model got a more powerful engine and a new entry-level version of the sedan.

The 1991 Toyota Corolla came in many body styles with several trim levels. The sedan came as a base, DX or LE. The wagon was available as a DX or SR5. The coupe came as a SR5 or GT-S. All Corollas came equipped with a DOHC, 16-valve inline four-cylinder engine. The sedans, wagons, and SR5 coupe had a 102-horsepower engine and the GT-S had a 130 horsepower. Fuel economy is about 22 to 33 mpg, depending on the engine.

Owners of the 1991 Corolla complain that the car is underpowered and performs even worse when the air conditioning is running. Still, they tend to praise the car for being reliable and long-lasting, and many have been driving them trouble-free since the car was new.

This car runs great, 21yrs old and it's still going... just had it checked and all it needed was a tierod and the battery was shot. Its a real beater, but keeps going strong.... Love it! I got it with just over 159k on it. I've already put over 1k miles on it in about a months time. Back and forth 70miles 3 days a week for school, trips to friends all over and to NY too... Sweet!Jan 30, 2012

excellent reliable transpo but it is ugly, great gas mileage.handeling is sketchy. first gear a little too low but gets out in traffic nice from a dead stop. so so interior. good metal no rust.needs wider tires than stock ones.May 12, 2011

As a manual transmission, I get better accrleration. Braking & handling are ok, but the appearance seems to be back dated. Still I get better milage, low maintenance cost & lots of fun driving this car. So, I drive it very often.Dec 08, 2010
