1991 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX Turbo AWDReview

Good — My reviews are based on a used 1991 Eclipse GSX. It was somewhat on a project car and needed plenty of work. Overall, the car was fun. People always tried to race on the street, many of them were older generation Civics lol Pros: AWD!! Cons: small car and went through gas like nothing since it is AWD and turbo. ![]() Looking for a Used Eclipse in your area?CarGurus has 126 nationwide Eclipse listings starting at $3,000. |

Fun, Enjoyable, Reliable — Like I said Ive had this car for about 3 years and I dont really have anything bad to say about it. I got it as my first car and became a restoration project for me. Ive done alot of work to it including body, paint and some engine clean up. The interior was completley intact and the engine was very clean! Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) Pros: This car has been really good to me overall! Ive had it for about 3 years and I have nothing bad to say about it! :) Cons: I have add a few problems like timing and sprocket problems but that is it! |

Bottom Line I Love These Cars If You Wanna Know More , Get Out And Dive One — I loved my 91' Eclipse GSX . It had awesome acceleration and the AWD made corners a piece of cake even at high speeds. The quality i guess some would say is not the greatest but if you fix it right the first time you probably will never have to worry about it again. I loved the way the car looked it had it's own distinctive look that no other car had one of a kind!!! The cost of these cars is not the greatest AWD Turbo means premium fuel but depending on how you drove it could help how far a full gas tank would get you. FUN FACTOR : If you really want to know you should drive one , it's one hell of a ride awesome power , brakes when you need em and AWD . Weather you drive it on the street or on the track you will have a blast. Primary Use: Commuting to work Pros: 2.0L 16V AWD TURBO enough said lol Cons: If you do't like fixing cars or putting them in the shop you probably don't need to own one. |

If You Are Familiar With Whats Under The Hood, And Find One At A Decent Price, Go For It — when they run right, dsms can put you back in the seat and give you a ride. they handle decent and all wheel disk brakes help stop it. if you happen upon one that was either unmolested, or was fixed properly, you should have few problems apart from the usual dsm hiccups, though some can be puzzles to fix. the overall appearance is both majestic and aggressive. the interior is well curved to the early 90's styling and matches well with the exterior. mileage is decent for an awd car, but repairs can be costly. when they are tuned up and running right, it is a fun car to cruise around in. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) Pros: fast and fun, great appearance and stock turbo Cons: repair costs and lack of car knowledge |

Will Always Remember Her — The drivers seat felt like a cockpit it was a great little car I had an Alpine cd player in it that was hooked up to pioneers all around and a kicker 12" sub powered by a mtx amp.........the car was fun to drive its rear carpet was emaculate... the back seat was non existant and that not do to it not having one no it was due to the fact that there was no leg room to speak of......all in all I loved that car Pros: Car handles like a champ.... Cons: DO to the overall age of the car is was a little anemic....leaving me wanting more... |

The First Car I Owned Myself, Loved It — Now that I'm much older and have had higher-end cars, it's hard to grade this. When I had it, I loved (really LOVED) this car. I'd go out and just look at it in the garage, I'd take it for rides with no where to go. The cockpit feel for the driver was great. It started having issues just as I was about to move to LA and rather than deal with issues that could arise on the trek there or while in a new and (very) strange city, I leased a new car. I really liked it while I had it. Pros: Fast, good handling Cons: The turbo ate up gas, but you don't buy it for it's mileage. |
