1989 Honda Accord Coupe LXiReview

If I Knew How To Restore Cars And Had The Money I Would Find One Just Like The One I Owned. — I loved this car, not only because it was my first but because it was the perfect blend of sporty and practical. It was also super reliable and would probablt still be running today if I hadn't rear ended someone in it! Gas mileage was really good and the only major problems I ever recall were in the front axle. I had to have the upper arm joints rebuilt and and still continued to have some problems with uneven tire wear. Despite that rather costly issue (esp. for a young driver) I still miss this car - pop up head lights, moon roof, and all! Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) Pros: Feels faster than it is. Cons: C'mon - it was made in '89 how many do you think are still in good condition? ![]() Looking for a Used Accord Coupe in your area?CarGurus has 1,367 nationwide Accord Coupe listings starting at $2,000. |

1989 Honda Accord Coupe Lx — One of the least expensive coupes to have pop- up headlights. The double wishbone suspension made this a great handling car, and the Honda 4cyl. engine got better than average performance and gas milage. Very reliable, with excellent fit and finish. Primary Use: Commuting to work Pros: Reliable, great handling, and fun to drive. Cons: Not a true performance coupe. |

All In One Accord — The car came with plenty of electronics that were easy to use and never broke. The car had stunning lines and very comfortable interior. It wasn't the best MPG car i ever had, but it was ok for the category... Primary Use: Commuting to work Pros: looks, comfort Cons: somewhat pricey to maintain in Peru, MPG wasn't great... |

Great Memories — It was a good car, quality built, good acceleration, good performance for the year of the car, cheap to run and maintain, lots of parts in the junk yard and it was a blast to drive. Didn't need any repairs. Primary Use: Family transportation Pros: Cheap and reliable Cons: It'ss getting older now, you probably won't find one in good shape like mine unless you are willing to do work. |

They Don't Make 'em Like This Anymore — Still performs admirably at 19yrs old. Its no rocket, but don't let the measly 98hp fool you. It only weighs 2600 (subtract x for rust) and cranks out 110lb-ft @ 3500rpm, so on the highway you've got pretty decent acceleration from 120-140 while staying in 5th. Ride comfort is good, handles quite well minus the body roll. Pros: Put 200,000 relatively drama free kms on it after buying it with 213,000kms... Cons: Carburetor system is a nightmare. |

Scond Car/bought For School — This is now my daily driver A20a1 5spd I bought it to take back and from from school 500 miles from my house I've been very pleased with the drive-ability of this car...I've put 15,000miles on it in the past year. Pros: 35mpg on highway at 75mph, very reliable, great heater,...I put a kickin sound system in it. Cons: ...small back seat, can't throw a trailer on it for my bike. |

1989 Honda Accord Coupe SEi Review
GuruHKBY5 says:
Still outsold Camry in 89 and was outselling camry in 86 nearly 3-1 for good reason. SEI had cup holders hidden until you needed them, disc brakes all four corners, more suspension travel, Boise sound, leather that would ruin you with upscale interior throughout. Sporty and water pump was still separate from timing belt service. You could do them separately. Pop up headlights meant clean when you needed them & glass headlights meant no plastic lens fading. This is the last year of the 3rd generation Honda when some called it the best car at any price for the money. And Honda was called the best car maker in the world. Today they remain the better Honda for a number of reasons. Lastly today cars feels every bump in the road and they call that sporty? This older Honda with double wish bone suspension road more like a crown vic while still handling favorable to the Prelude, and thats saying something. If you can find a better car (and you wont) but it vs1989 Toyota Camry LE
