Kept On Running Right Up To The End — I Got this car in my sophomore year. i drove an 85 eldorado for a few months and my sister totaled it. i bought a ford tempo for my tv and 50 bucks. BEST 50 BUCKS EVER SPENT. it had 200k miles and i drove it all the way to 500k. that took 3 years. i drove everywhere and anywhere i could. doing burnouts and racing the cooler kids in beamers and benzes. i spent 200 on the motor mounts 200 on tires and 300 on the timing belt. IN THE ENTIRE 3 YEARS. i scraped it up grinding on the freeway exits and running over cones but the frame and glass held out. i have to say it was the most fun ive ever had in a car. i drove it to its death but it kept on running. in my freshman year in college i rolled it, (despite the big displacment)and i had to scrap it but i DROVE IT TO THE SCRAP YARD. reliable runner. lasts forever Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) Pros: IT DRIVES 4EVER Cons: if yoyu can afford anything else ![]() Looking for a Used Tempo in your area?CarGurus has 5 nationwide Tempo listings and the tools to find you a great deal. |

Its A Good Car — Its really really fast, braking is good, handling could be less body roll, mybe some eibach springs, build quality is good, it gets on average 20 to 25 mpg, the only thing ive had to to to it since ive owned it is front brakes but is starting to need other things like a rack and pinion and half shaft so i cant complain. As far as fun to drive.. sure i guess people look lol Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) Pros: its very sporty Cons: there are no negatives |

Awesome Car To Drive — The acceleration wasnt the greatest, but what can you expect from a 2.3 liter 4 cylinder car with a 3 speed auto? For the engine and trans combo, though, the car could get out of its own way. The build quality was pretty good. For 250K on the clock, it was a very solid car. The 89 GLS's with the apperance package, in my opinion, was one of Fords nicest looking 4 door compacts. It was a very cheap car to own, over all i invested nearly $4,000 into the car, but maybe $400 was necessary. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) Pros: great handling, comfort, reliability Cons: acceleration |

Great On Gas — I loved this car. Ran awesome, never had a problem with it. Great on gas. Drove the crap out of it until i wrecked it. Pretty safe but the automatic seatbelts arent very good. Pros: Economical and reliable Cons: Average looks, no overdrive on the autos, pretty basic |

My 5-spd Tempo — Traded my ford F-100 and my 81 Trans-am for this. Wanted something I could drive year round and better on gas. Owned it for about a year after driving it to Ont and sold it. Pros: Good on gas, parts are cheap. Cons: Low power, not a stylish car. |
