Good Car — A fun little sporty car. I drove it a ton when it was first brand new and had a blast. The car sat around for awhile with very little use, once it was put back into full time use it kinda fell apart. Primary Use: Commuting to work Pros: fun to drive Cons: didnt last like I would have liked it to ![]() Looking for a Used Tempo in your area?CarGurus has 5 nationwide Tempo listings and the tools to find you a great deal. |

Cheap, Ugly, Dependable — My car in high-school was a 1986 Ford Tempo. It put up with me, and I put up with it... and it never left me stranded. It was a deep, lush maroon... at some point in its life. When I got it, it had the classic "80's paint flake" going on. Very stylish. It actually got up and went pretty well, for such a heavy smallish car. Pros: Dependable, Cheap, Easy to maintain. It had A/C!! And a tape deck! Decent MPG, though I never really payed attention back then, gas was under $1.00 a gallon most of my high-school driving career! Cons: Ugly, ugly, ugly. The A/C was mostly dead. The tape deck would eat tapes. |

Did You Know "boring" Could Be Spelled "f-o-r-d-t-e-m-p-o"? — I nicknamed it "Attila the Hun" for its aggressiveness. End of the irony section. The car was reliable, though. You wouldn't drive it because it was so damn boring, so it wouldn't break. Really. Mine was an ugly two-tone baby blue over dark blue. Put a fin on top and you've got a shark disguise for Halloween. Pros: No need to lock the doors. No one will steal this jewel. Cons: Everything from bumper to bumper. |
