Looks Nice, But Runs Crappy — It was a nice looking car for the '80's. When it ran, it didn't run very good. Beware the 2.8 MPFI V6. It was one of the crappiest motors GM ever made. It was slow to accellerate and needed a lot of repairs. It was cheap to drive, but could have been cheaper. The digital dash panel kept going out and I had to punch it to get it to come back on. Since that part was no longer manufactured, we had to send it to GM to get fixed. It wa a fun first car, but I'm glad I'm rid of it.

Pros: Looked good for the '80's

Cons: Everything else.  Ran like crap.  Stay away from the 2.8 MPFI V6.

1986 Chevrolet Cavalier — One of the Ugliest Cars ever produced! Decent Fuel Mileage. Simply your average 80's compact sedan powered by an anemic four banger. Was a pretty reliable car until I threw a piston rod in the motor. Bye, bye Cavalier! I guess that's what I get for treating this car like it was a race car!

Pros: Decent Fuel Mileage.  Reliable

Cons: Ugly as Sin!

This Is My Summer / Good Weather Car That I'm Luck Enough To Have Back Again. — Used to be my Mom's car from 1988 until 1995. Traded it in after it got hit in the driver's door when I was a junior in high school. Bought back in 2001 and have kept it in a garage ever since. New paint, engine, suspension, top, exhaust, and lots more parts. I love how simple and economical this car is. Its one of the nicer ones of its kind out there.

Pros: Great mileage, easy & cheap to run and maintain.

Cons: No power at all.

This Car Is No Longer Made. — This car lasted the longest of any of my cars. I drove it into the ground -- until a mechanic finally said to bury it! Because it was so small it was extremely easy to drive, and was great on gas.

Pros: It was easy to get around the city and park.

Cons: Not the greatest looking, nor a luxious, car.

If you want your teenage son to turn into an InCel throughout his twenties and possibly thirties, saddle him with this. It works like a charm.

Front Seats Ranked 1989 Cadillac Brougham better.
"The seats are much better by far in the Brougham than the Cavalier. There is even an armrest in both front and back."
Value Ranked 1989 Cadillac Brougham better.
"The Cavalier made public transit feel posh. I cannot say that with any Cadillac. What is saved on gas in the Cavalier is made up for by income loss generated by a sheer loss of confidence in one’s employability—this car will cement a low class into a low caste."
