Classy Cruiser. — I never really rated these cars, I bought this for my wife when we came back from Australia. But once I got it fixed up she was too nervous to park it anywhere as its so nice. This is a Euro-spec car with the small chrome bumpers and square headlamps, as originally designed. The car is brilliant on the freeway and nice around town, built like a tank and beautiful. Old enough to be "classic" it is modern enough to use every day comfortably.

Pros: Fast, pretty, classy, fantastic build quality.

Cons: Hi-comp Euro engine needs 101 octane race gas at $7.50/gal; repairs cost as you might expect for the top-of-the-line Mercedes...

It really doesnt matter regarding a differece in handling. the 380 has a more economical engine and is just as attractive as the 500. I would look at a 500 with lower miles and better condition, if the price is right.

Cabin comfort...air, power accessories, quiet...the SL. I had the SL convertible with removable hardtop. A wonderful car. It would only be better with a GM LS swap! That would be up to par with modern performance standards...and a great road car!
