1982 Jeep Wagoneer Preview summaryImage

Looking for a tough, dependable 4WD SUV that can tear up the trails and then get your family back home safely, and is easy to fix and customize in your own garage (assuming you have the proper equipment for that sort of hobby, of course)? Well, the 1982 Jeep Wagoneer certainly fits all of those requirements. The twentieth model in the long line of successful and durable Jeep Wagoneers, the 1982 stayed with the tradition of no major changes, preferring to continue on with what had worked for 20 years.
The engines of the 1982 Jeep Wagoneer are probably familiar to you if you've read any reviews of previous years. A 401 cubic inch V8 is the monster of the family, with a 360 cubic inch V8 on its heels and a 258 cubic inch I6 tagging along behind. The transmissions are also the same, a 3 speed or a 4 speed manual, and a 3 speed automatic for those people who like the car to take on a bit more of the workload. Air conditioning, cruise control, and a massive interior keep you and your passengers comfortable, while the radio bumps along with your favorite station as you bump along your favorite trails. The 1982 Jeep Wagoneer marks the 20th anniversary of this long, distinguished line of SUV, one of the first true SUVs to try to include some comforts and luxury.
