1972 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible — Awesome car. Trying to figure out why she dies - seems like gas starvation. Changed all the low hanging fruit, including distributor, carb, fuel filter, fuel pump, wires, plugs, coil... Hoping the tank has crud in it - and cleaning it out will solve the problem.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: 8.2 litre fwd

Cons: 8.2 litre fwd

1972 Cadillac Eldorado Review

Beautiful Car, But You'll Have To Spend Some Time Under The Hood. — Beautiful body, and interior. Had power seats, windows, locks, convertible top. Power everything in a '72 was awesome. Loved it while I had it, but it handled terribly in the snow. Perfect weekend cruiser, not necessarily an everyday stop-and-go driver. Very fun to drive. I definitely spent some time and money working on it though.

Pros: It's a drop-top Caddy... Who wouldn't want to drive it?

Cons: Hands-on maintenance.

1972 Cadillac Eldorado Review

Finicky Beauty... But Worth It! — The early 70's Eldo's were kind of a strange car. They had early technology front-wheel-drive which gave them an enormous wheel offset that is impossible to find aftermarket wheels for. Also, the convertible top mechanism design is said to be the worst engineering mistake GM ever made. Being a scissor-action fully-electric top eliminated the hydraulic part of the system and allowed for full width rear seating and smaller top well area, but the complex movements and tiny pieces of the electro-mechanic system are a nightmare to repair or adjust. From 1970 to 1976, the Eldorados came with the largest engine ever put into a passenger car for production. It is a 500ci (8.2 liter) V8, and in 72 it was rated for 325 hp and 525 ft-lbs! The bottom line is that it gets about 8 miles a gallon, but will break the front wheels loose any time!

Pros: Big beautiful boat... there is nothing like a Cadillac!

Cons: Difficult to fix many areas, THRISTY, hard to find parking in San Diego!
