Decent First Car For A New Driver In The Late Seventies, Early Eighties. — The 1970 Maverick with three-speed manual and a straight-six engine got good gas mileage and could seat five people easily; perhaps six if you didn't mind a third in the front seat. It was also easy to maintain; I can remember doing my first tune-up, which consisted of adjusting the timing by using a screwdriver and a flashlight to look at the timing belt for the tell-tale mark. Pros: It was my first car and it was fairly inexpensive at the time. I think I paid about $900 for it, it was about ten years old when I got it and it had about 70,000 miles on it. Easy to maintain and it got decent gas mileage. Cons: It lacked style and horsepower. |

Fast Times At Mira Costa High — My first car... In retrospect a real good looking machine and full of all kinds of unmentionable great memories. Price was right, $200! This car was brutally abused by me and all my buddies for 2 years until it passed away peacefully one night in Tijuana. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) Pros: $5 would fill the tank, front windows would fall down at big bumps, plywood and seat cushion for drivers seat because springs were coming out all over, metal bumpers were indestuctible and my added 'Quadrophonic Stereo' with 8 track player were awesome. Cons: 40 years later... ZERO!!! |

It Is Awesome — this car is a monster it has a tunnel ram and 2 600 holly carboraters it has about 450 hp and it is simple to burnout but hard to stop at lights you have to presss down on the brake peddle as long as you can it needs some little things like a paint job and a bit of welding but it is a great car it is a super fun car to drive but when you burnout it evern get funny and when you take off you get stuck in the seat. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) Pros: i like the flytrap sticking up through the hood. Cons: you cant cruise around town in it is not a cruise car it is a drag car |

Awesome Little Hot Rod. — This car is a 2,300 Lb. uni body bundle of fun. with only a stock 302 it brought the front wheels off the ground, we (my husband and I) have since built up the 302 motor along with a borg warner t 10 tranny. we are hoping to get at least 13 mpg but that's being pretty hopeful ;) This car is going to be a blast to drive or ride in. I LOVE MY MAVERICK! Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) Pros: old school muscle that isn't real common but is one of the best! Cons: the uni body can present a bit of a challenge when landing a wheelie (i know) but a little flat iron and a good welder and it's good to rock and roll! |

Maverick — the performance is awesome even after sitting for 12 years. It does need some minor fuel line repair, but is in overall good condition. The interior will need to be gutted and rehopolstered, and the exterior needs a bit of body filler in some areas, and then sanded primed and painted. Its not to bad on mileage and maintenance is easy if any at all. This car gets a 5/5 in fun to drive! Primary Use: Commuting to work Pros: The 302 V8 Cons: The Paint |
