1970 Ford Fairlane Review

1970 Ford Fairlane 500 — Not as sexy as a Mustang, and more basic than the Torino it shared a body style with, the Fairlane 500 was still a sporty car, with a powerful 302 V8. Of all the cars I've owned, this would be the one I would most like to own again. A classic car that isn't common like a mustang or a camaro!

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: 302 V8

Cons: Big car, and sloppy handling.

Solid And Reliable Great Car To Locate And Rebuild — The performance was great. In the mid 1980's my buddies were getting the IROC z 28's. I could still out perform them. The car handled well around curves and was easy to handle. The 302 V8 never had any problems, the only thing I can remember was after 100,000 miles the transmission began to slip some. It was safe and a good family car in the 1970's. I believe the 4 door would still make a great family car and a good project to restore one. It was fun to drive and acceleration was king.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: This was a solid family car and then my first car. Easy to work on and handled very well. I do not remember ever having any problems with her and she ran and ran until 1988 when I had to let her go

Cons: Trunk space was small as I remember, hard to my sisters and I to get in and out of. I recall the horn would always stick when cold.
