Key Fob Compatibility

I have an old key fob from a 1999 GMC Jimmy SLT that I sold years ago. I'm wondering if I can program it to work with a 2001 Chevy Prizm I just picked up at Christmas.

Rim Compatibility 1996 To 2001

Does a 1996 Geo Prizm rim fit my 2001 Chevy Prizm? Same 4-bolt pattern and I think the same wheel bearing, but not sure. If someone can confirm, I'd buy an extra set of rims.
