I find this car cheap to maintain very rugged and very reliable , I think the car is very economical and also a very good car for first time driver because of how safe this car is constructed,I think ford really made a good vehicleSep 11, 2014

I liked the roominess and the leg room for my family. My children are older and no one ever rides with me anymore... so an economical care is my next step. This car did me well and never had any issues. It starts right up and gives you power when you need it.Oct 11, 2013

Impressed with how reliable this car has been, I have gone through 2 starters (lots of starts and stops when the car was first purchased, an AC condenser, rack and pinion, 2 batteries, 2 sets of tires and 2 sets of brakes. Car starts first shot every time.Sep 09, 2013

Cheap and easy to maintain car. It is large and comfortable, but not for the one who enjoy driving. It is too soft and the rear brakes are drums instead of discs. Not too good on a fuel economy. Everyday driver.Jul 24, 2012

Performance-handling, braking are both pretty good
Build Quality- the driver door got stuck open once, but other than that nothing has had to be repaired before.
Appearance- gray interior and exterior
Cost of ownership- about $30 to fill with gas

Not a bad family car. Limited production Centenial Edition. fully loaded, only needs a rear spoiler. DOHC V6 could have a little more power to move it. I get around 20 mpg around town. It needs better handling, not sporty enough for me.Aug 23, 2009

Performance - great acceleration, good breaks, handles well, could use some new tires though. Has a 24 valve engine. Pretty good gas mileage, 22 mile per gallon and i normally drive it kinda hard cause it's just more fun that way. Aug 04, 2009

Performance:
I was expecting more from the 3 litter V6. It only has 155 HP and 185LB of torque. it dose sound really good though. It gets around 23MPG usually but i live in a vary hilly place. Its even gone up to 28 on the highway before. It is desen't on the way to 60 with a time of around 9 sec, but after that it slows way down. The wagon is electrically limited to a top speed of 111MPH (because of the tiers) but if you remove the limiter your looking at speeds of up to around 128. There are alot of horror story's about Taurus transmissions but the 2003 model year had a great rating. The steering is VARY light and had almost no feel to it. The brakes are vary stiff but has excellent ABS. it holds the road well for being a 2 ton monster that is more than 16 feet long, and unlike most fords this has interdependent rear suspension.
Build Quality:
The only things that have gone wrong with this particular Taurus is that the starter went bad and the "water tight seal" on the driver side door had to be replaced a few times. No major mechanical problems have happend so far with this car....Knock on wood.
Appearance:
Interior: this is the middle of the range SE Wagon. the interior is kind of bland and the dash is a mess of different color panels. The cloth seats are vary comfortable for long trips but the 3rd row trunk seats are only good for short trips.
Exterior: I really like the styling for the 2000-2003 models. It is a vary good looking car from the outside, as long as you don't get it in black or red. with roof racks as stranded it is vary good for road trips.
Cost of Ownership:
Parts are usually cheep for the Taurus and they are fairly easy to fix. I have gotten up to 28 MPG with the Taurus, but usually get around 21.
Fun Factor:
With a great sounding engine and independent suspension it is a fun car to drive. be careful for wheel spin when its wet though.

It is a great vehicle for young adults. You can drive over 500 miles on a tank of gas (hwy miles) I did this in the Summer of 2006. There is one down fall: the oil filter is right above the starter, and the starter gets saturated with oil, when changing the oil... (Poor design on Ford's part) but over all, it is a vey sound car. pleanty of horsepower and exelent torque, handeling is a little heavy, would be alot more fun if it had a five-speed manual transmission, there isnt much to do in the way upgrading, sounds nice with a cherry bomb muffler, so fun to drive but easy to fall asleep behind the wheel since the ride is so comfortableAug 07, 2008

This is a good car. Great gas mileage. i have 75,000 miles and i've only had to fix a few things for as long as i have it. with the price of gas right now it costs about 70 dollars to fill up which isn't that bad with the gas it gets. It is a very comfy ride i did a four hour drive two weeks ago and it was a very comfy drive felt like i was on the couch. Its a good car and i love the thing. I like this car and how it drive; however, I hate that the hood is so long and the windows seem so low. I don't like how "low" you sit in the car and how little of glass space there seems to be.
