The 2004 Ford Escape continued to have a tough time finding its way in the compact SUV market, despite a roomy interior, generous cargo space, and nimble handling.
The entry-level engine for the '04 Ford Escape was the 2.0 liter, 4-cylinder Zetec with a 130-horsepower output. A 3.0 liter, 24-valve Duratec V-6, putting out 200 horsepower and 200 lb.-ft. of torque, was an option for buyers wanting to give their 2004 Escape a little more oomph under the hood.
ABS front-disc brakes gave the Escape great stopping power, and optional front-side airbags added security.
