Dear, I have a 2005 subaru forester X, the engine EJ253 have only 70K miles and runs great! but the body of the car is all rusted, do not pass inspection. I am wondering which year and models of forester and/or outback the engine of my 2005 forester will fit without any electric plug issue. Will appreciate your input

Look for one around your year that also has an EJ253 in it. In 2006 Subaru went with the active valve lift system so I would try for a 2004, 2005 car.

Thanks for your advise, those this apply to Outback shell as well only to forester shell only?

I have a 2005 Subaru Forester sx with a blown engine and the body is in great condition I’m not sure if it would fit in but maybe?
