Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2004 Saturn ion that keeps blowing 2
amp ignition switch fuse and was wondering
what would make it do that every time I turn
the key to the run position?

Something in the circuit is grounded. If any part of the positive side of the circuit for this fuse is touching metal, it is shorting out. Are you sure it is actually a 2 amp fuse?

Yes definitely a 2 amp fuse. I changed ignition switch with a used one. Would a bad ignition switch cause the fuse to blow?

Also I tried putting in a 7.5 and it does not blow the fuse. The dash lights flicker but still no crank

Did you ever resolve this. My 05 ion also blows the 2A ing fuse. Sometimes runs for weeks w/out a problem, but now it blows after driving for a couple seconds.
