Replacement of CCRM control relay module, on 95 mustang 5.0

Asked by Sarah Jul 22, 2017 at 08:21 PM about the 1995 Ford Mustang GT Convertible RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I am in supposed need of replacing my CCRM, the
control relay module. It overheated I think and my
car died out on me. It's old and an essential
computer component of my car. I cannot find
much details on replacement, like timing and tools
needed. Looks like I have easy access (for a ford)
no cover, but I'm wondering about the wires
specifically and what to look for since I don't have
any electrical experience or tools to read the
currents. Any suggestions will be helpful

This is the piece they said got too hot and malfunctioned probably. Looked like they tested it.

All my gauges were normal, not running or checked a/c yet. Drove for like 40 mins. It was extremely hot out, almost home when pulling into the gas station parking spot, my brakes aren't pumping, my power steering went out, battery light on and car died, hit the e brake put it in park. Let it cool down for 10 mins, drove 1 block, died again same way, but starts right up, then dies, then had to wait 2 hrs till the sun went down. A guy sorta looked at it, but was puzzling, first he thought it didn't have enough gas, the fuel pump. Waited. Drove home, let it sit over night. Been running ever since, however it does feel ruff, the gears seem ruffer when shifting (automatic) and fuel pressure seems lower when pressing the gas. Took it to my local shop. They couldn't find anything wrong, said they checked the fuel pump, it was fine, plus- I have a new fuel filter, battery, spark plugs, oil change, coolant, steering fluid, brake fluid. They said they've seen the relays get too hot and short or go bad. It's running, but I'm scared it's damaged and it looks old anyways.
