Why can't I get my Oldsmobile bravada out of park

I pulled in my garage, shut the car off and realized I had to move in more.  I started it
right back up and now I can't get it out of park.

shift lock solenoid as stated by Tom,, also could be the shift control cable is kinked up or not attached to the holder clips it has to have something holding it stiff and in place other wise it will just bind and what not.. the cable is right there under the drivers side door
