Question type: Shopping & Pricing

Is it better to get the last model year before a major upgrade, or watt for the
new
model? keep in mind the discount price, years of improvement of the current
model year and the increase in price and unknow ratability of the new upgrade
model as in the 2022 MDX

Two sides of the coin, you always want the last year of a particular model before it is redesigned. Due to the fact that the manufacture has had a few years to worked out all the bugs in the current design. But I would buy a new model if it has the better features you have been waiting on and or a bigger engine. It all comes down to the timing of your purchase. Can you wait or need a vehicle now?

It also depends on your buying habits. If you're like me and keep a vehicle forever until the wheels fall off buy the old body style. You'll get a better price because the Dealer is anxious to get rid of it to make room for the new models. But if you trade in a vehicle every few years or so get the new body style. It will hold it's value longer and you'll get a lot more for it at trade in time! Hope that helps! Jim

In general the newer car is better but not always. Sometimes updates take away what people want in a car. Do your research and see which model you prefer.
