Mustang GT Engine issue?

Asked by Maximus2019 Jul 28, 2020 at 11:12 AM about the 2019 Ford Mustang GT Coupe RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I got my 2019 base model mustang gt with the
performance package about 2 months ago with 400
miles on it. Since then I’ve put 15000 miles on it,
upgraded most of the interior (sync 3, instrument
cluster, seats) to premium interior, and have really
enjoyed the car. That is, until yesterday, when I took
it to the dealership because the check engine light
was on. With only 2 months of driving, one of the
pistons is completely fried, and they said it’s going
to take a month to fix the damage. Is this normal?

It's an issue with the 2018 and 2019 5.0's, check this https://www.youtube.com/watch? v=6jwBGIHUrmQ

Some 5.0's have a failure of the cylinder lining. If this is the case you should get a new engine.
