my 2002 mercury cougar 2.5 automatic will no longer go into reverse , it goes forward in all gears what is wu with that?

took a 600 mile trip , on the way back the car seemed to jerk at higher speeds. when I got home and
pulled up my drive way , I tried to back out but the transmission only goes forward in all gears

If it is low we must find out from where it's leaking, suspect the transmission coolant lines that run up to the radiator. check for weeping at the fittings-

Youve got to run it through all selections on the gear selector with your foot on the brake, and get this torque converter up and able to do the job.
