what could cause my transmission not to shift automatically or manually in my 1994 jeep grand cherokee laredo 4.0

is it just not going in any gear there is a linkage on the side of the trans that has a clip on attaching pin the cable that comes down snaps on and some time it can pop off. if it is shifting into gear but just not going anywhere then start the jeep and check the trans fluid. if it is at the full line then check to see if the transfer case is in neutral if it is way before the full like the pump might mot be working in the trans. this gives you some things to look at. let me know

First check transmission fluid level if ok have shift control solinoid checked after that may need transmission work done.

I have a 1996 Jeep Cherokee with a 2001 motor in it strait 6 transmission. I have a shifting problem. It want shift till I hit 5000 RPMS in every gear what could be the problem?

i put in drive and the jeep wont move but does move when its cool.
