my 1994 honda accord is making a ticking/knocking noise and i have to accelerate in order to keep the car running what does that mean

My son was in an accident with his 2004 Honda Accord coupe. The claims adjuster is totaling the car saying there is $9,000 in damage and the car is worth $10,500. He has offered us to keep the car as a salvage for $2500. He is saying the biggest cost of the repair is due to the front frame rails are bent and in order to fix properly, the engine will need to be pulled and the rails replaced. We have brought the car to 3 body shops who have quoted anywhere from $4500 to $8500 to repair. The $4500 repair is saying they can straighten the frame. Is it safe to go this route as opposed to replacing? If we take the $10k we have driven the car for free for 2 years (negative-we have to find another car) but if we keep it and can repair it for $4500 we should be able to get another 100-150k miles. 2 Answers
