Why Won't my jeep stay running

Won't stay running unless i open my drivers side door
about 10 inches or so

Maybe you have a sensor that detects the open door and shuts down the engine "thinking" no one is in the driver's seat. Likely is a safety feature of that time period when a bunch of new electronics were being tried to make our lives better and safer.
