It started with a buzzing sound when
driving or a air sucking type noise,but
when it warmed up it went away,after a
while there was a lag before reverse or
drive would engage(which got worse over
a week or so,then it started slipping while
driving(like pushing in the clutch in a
manual when driving)now I've parked it
up,is the gearbox wrecked and needs a
recon?its a boss 260

Is the filter clean with plenty of fluid? Sometimes when my filter would get dirty or low on fluid the torque converter would spin up, slip a bit and then kick in. It may also be a faulty transmission valve or modulator, solenoids or bands in which a transmission shop would be my next step.
