do i need to take transmission box out to change sump gasket

If by box you mean the fluid pan, yes, to replace the gasket you need to remove the transmission fluid pan.

sori i ment the engine oil pan gasket i need change.i was told i had to remove the whole transmission to get that off

Look and see but I kinda doubt you would have to remove the transmission to service the engine oil pan gasket.

ok thanks.i watched it on you tube .it showed them removing trans .but thanks i will look myself

Did they have other reasons to remove the transmission?

they said that where the pick up stick is {dip stick inside is} said because of that the sump pan has to slide towards the trans to drop out.so trans has to come out,seems alot of work just to change gasket
